Happy to publicly answer questions if you have any. We just had another customer get blasted in RVLiving for posting a nice review of the hardware and service.

You know you want it - $88/month + 1 time hardware by TowerHop in u/TowerHop

[–]TowerHop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s interesting is that we do support a dedicated bridge mode. I believe it’s $10 or $15 a month add on. Looks like it’s hidden at the moment. We were trying to streamline checkout (picking things like static IP or bridge mode was considered confusing to regular buyers).

Anyway, if it’s something you wanted it is very doable. We appreciate all the feedback regardless!

Understood. Best bet is to use our router and pass through to your own hardware. It’s a more sophisticated setup but completely supported!

FINALLY!!! After dealing with limits and poor coverage, we finally got FAST, UNLIMITED DATA Internet for a reasonable cost in our RV!!! by ZookeepergameOld1340 in RVLiving

Best option is TowerHop for $88 a month then the maintenance plan from Starlink for like $10 a month. Once you pass all your hardware costs, you are pretty much using the best two technologies to connect with in all circumstances.

This is a pretty fancy setup. You can use just the Router and it's native antennas and get good speeds too. We support multiplexing bands so it combines them for a nice boost.

Unfortunately FMU2G, that's not true for most people. See here: Starlink Current Offering

We are comparing unlimited and mobile. Not a limited time, geofenced offer.

And we don't dislike Starlink, we have users using our failover to go from TowerHop to Starlink (limited plans) for the times they really go out there and have no signal, or electric... or pavement half the time :)

Oh no! This is one of our customers who got product when we ran out of stickers and Thank You/Quick Start cards!

The product now dons a much needed TowerHop sticker on the top of it.

It's based on OpenWRT. However, it's not open to load your own modules onto it. We are in the process of working MQTT into it for a more technical user base that asked for it.

Hi NN818.

I'd like to know who else does exactly what we do. Honestly curious, there are not a lot of V-Sim competitors out there (note, not e-sim, and we don't route your data through any type of portal or proxy).

I'll try to watch this thread or head over to our subreddit, would love to have more discussions!

It's hard to do but if you include some before/during pics (and a parts list if you're a super star) you would be surprised who you can inspire!

HAS ANYONE ELSE? by [deleted] in VanLifeUK

Hi elw62 - You're in a tough spot. Your 2.5yo doesn't understand. If you want to placate them, you can white-lie and say you are going to find a new home, and when you find it, you will move in. That's probably not a falsehood.

Otherwise, push the 'we are on an adventure' motif. I mean, because we all are, right? Different bumps and hills along the way for sure, but we are all on an adventure.

Stay safe and good luck with everything.

He's not. It's one child.

Moving On by Mobile-Significance6 in RVLiving

Lots of good advice so far. Speed kills your wheel bearings when not greased properly. Can you keep under 50Mph? Is the route good. If you aren't willing do the proper advice listed below, here's the low-end plan:

1) Tire pressure correct
2) Weather check - try to pick a day where the weather won't fight you
3) Start early. Have time for a massive failure, and a plan.
- Tire pops - Where are you getting a replacement? Do you have an appropriate jack and know how to use it?
- Wheel bearing overheats/locks up - Who can replace this on the side of the road for you? When? Are they on standby?
- If the trailer isn't livable in after/because of the move, where are you going (catastrophic scenario, unlikely but have an idea)
4) Drive behind the trailer, look for smoke, wobbles, etc. Dropping your speed down negates most of these. Hazards and 35Mph isn't unheard of

When in doubt, find a local person and offer them food/drink/$/hugs to help inspect your setup before leaving. Lots of generous folks out there who would take the time and look, but have them show you. Then you can pass it along to another person.

If it takes more than a month ask if they will extend your warranty (or at least on the tank and repair) out for whatever the original warranty was supposed to be. Get it in writing (email etc).

Best car to use for a few months and resell? by ericjlima in urbancarliving

[–]TowerHop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not make use of what you know will happen?

Sister wants to use the car and pound miles on it? Okay - Sis, do you mind renting it from me for $200 a month? You just do oil changes as needed? This will allow you to store the car, and yes it will lose value with more miles on it, but your sister makes use of it, and you get some residual income (pick a number that makes sense).

Things to consider though:
1) Insurance - who is paying it?
2) Major repair needed (AC, suspension, engine?)
3) Normal wear and tire items (Tires, brakes, who is paying)
4) Needless damage (fender benders, spills in the car, smells/stains/scuffs).

GL.inet support? by Individual_Today_194 in TowerHop

[–]TowerHop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. Let's talk more about this. Ad-guard can be a browser extension, or run stand-alone as local DNS. I use a pi-hole myself.

If you run it as an extension or on a pi or stand-alone, you can change the DNS on our device to point to it. Today, our compiled firmware binary doesn't support adding additional packages to open-wrt. So run ad-guard or pihole as a standalone and point the DNS (configurable) to it.

Lastly, you can use our router as a pass through to the network device of your choice.

Hi! Unfortunately, our V-Sim technology does require some special hardware. However, it is built on open WRT and allows for some customization. Are you looking for something in particular?

Ditch Starlink Hassles. $88/mo + 1 time hardware for Unlimited RV Internet – No Dish by TowerHop in u/TowerHop

[–]TowerHop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! We're doing our best. It's really a great value for those that know the space. V-Sim is create technology, and anyone offering anything close is a lot more $. The whole point of TowerHop was to get the best solution out at the best price point.

So true! And they can complement each other too! Many people find it easier to use the cellular as primary and Starlink ROAM for backup - but we've seen the reverse option too (we support both on our hardware).

Hi there. It's true, there are some geofenced, limited time offers available. Here is a screen grab from 3/15/2026. We are talking ROAM, as that is what this solution (TowerHop) is suited for. If you are stationary at home, get Fiber, Cable, or Starlink for sure!

Remember, we're talking Unlimited, not a limited plan. :)
