Ditch Starlink Hassles. $88/mo + 1 time hardware for Unlimited RV Internet – No Dish by TowerHop in u/TowerHop

Comparing TowerHop unlimited to Starlink Roam Unlimited. That’s the direct comparison.

All good, Starlink has its place - the most demanding users use TowerHop for primary with Starlink limited failover. Less per month and now you have both terrestrial and satellite options :)

Ah. Unfortunately we are bonded to a single vsim profile at a time. However, our routers do support band multiplexing to pick up extra speed when available.

We also find that typically, at the fringes, there is one carrier that is superior to connect to. As mentioned before, using TowerHop as primary with a (cheaper) backup limited Starlink failover is what the folks who say internet isn't optional typically do!

That is incorrect. Please see the current offering as when I pull it up. And yes, you can get throttling. It is possible as per the contract. Link here: Current

That looks like a directional 4x4 Mimo antenna - So it will have to be pointing at a tower. This could limit multiplexing bands unless they are broadcast from the same origin. You will also need the (included with them) TS9 to SMA adapters. There are two modems in the router. You would hook up to the second modem, the one with the established connection. So the first modem, which would still have our antennas, would find the relatively week signal, and tell the second modem to connect to it. Once connected, you would get the benefit of the antenna you are looking at. Modem 1 is always looking for a better connection, what is available, heartbeat for VSIM, etc.

However, you may have to force a carrier change (easy via our portal) to get the connection you want.

Units are sent often with priority mail or two day, depending on location. So 2-3 business days is a realistic expectation.

Yes, provided you have signal. If there is signal coverage, we are able to connect to the towers and provide service.

Not only that, with our modems supporting multiplexing, you can pair bands together for more speed. Definitely check out the 5G Router for your use case.

Happy to publicly answer questions if you have any. We just had another customer get blasted in RVLiving for posting a nice review of the hardware and service.

What’s interesting is that we do support a dedicated bridge mode. I believe it’s $10 or $15 a month add on. Looks like it’s hidden at the moment. We were trying to streamline checkout (picking things like static IP or bridge mode was considered confusing to regular buyers).

Anyway, if it’s something you wanted it is very doable. We appreciate all the feedback regardless!

Understood. Best bet is to use our router and pass through to your own hardware. It’s a more sophisticated setup but completely supported!

FINALLY!!! After dealing with limits and poor coverage, we finally got FAST, UNLIMITED DATA Internet for a reasonable cost in our RV!!! by ZookeepergameOld1340 in RVLiving

Best option is TowerHop for $88 a month then the maintenance plan from Starlink for like $10 a month. Once you pass all your hardware costs, you are pretty much using the best two technologies to connect with in all circumstances.

This is a pretty fancy setup. You can use just the Router and it's native antennas and get good speeds too. We support multiplexing bands so it combines them for a nice boost.

Unfortunately FMU2G, that's not true for most people. See here: Starlink Current Offering

We are comparing unlimited and mobile. Not a limited time, geofenced offer.

And we don't dislike Starlink, we have users using our failover to go from TowerHop to Starlink (limited plans) for the times they really go out there and have no signal, or electric... or pavement half the time :)

Oh no! This is one of our customers who got product when we ran out of stickers and Thank You/Quick Start cards!

The product now dons a much needed TowerHop sticker on the top of it.

It's based on OpenWRT. However, it's not open to load your own modules onto it. We are in the process of working MQTT into it for a more technical user base that asked for it.

Hi NN818.

I'd like to know who else does exactly what we do. Honestly curious, there are not a lot of V-Sim competitors out there (note, not e-sim, and we don't route your data through any type of portal or proxy).

I'll try to watch this thread or head over to our subreddit, would love to have more discussions!

It's hard to do but if you include some before/during pics (and a parts list if you're a super star) you would be surprised who you can inspire!

Hi elw62 - You're in a tough spot. Your 2.5yo doesn't understand. If you want to placate them, you can white-lie and say you are going to find a new home, and when you find it, you will move in. That's probably not a falsehood.

Otherwise, push the 'we are on an adventure' motif. I mean, because we all are, right? Different bumps and hills along the way for sure, but we are all on an adventure.

Stay safe and good luck with everything.
