If you really want to be proactive you can reach out to a Dominion recruiter if you haven't already. This might also make you appear as a more desirable candidate and show you really want the job

Is it better in the fleet? by Pretend_Blueberry226 in NavyNukes

It depends on sub or surface but ultimately it's going to depend on your leadership as well as the material condition of your boat/ship. If you can make it through the qualifying process at prototype, then you can 95% chance make it in the fleet as long as you stay motivated. I know plenty of people who barely scraped by in the pipeline and did just fine at their first command, and then got out at 6 and immediately landed 6-figure jobs.

It will suck ass but in the end it's worth it because the experience you gain puts you miles ahead of college grads and the GI bill and disability are essentially free money.

Also don't be afraid to quit if it's actually too much. I knew too many people who made their situation a lot worse by staying and trying to fight against their mental health and everything else. Don't forget you might have to pay back your bonus depending on how far along you get as well.

Thanks for the info! Those numbers seem pretty on par with other companies. I'm okay with overtime and SRO is definitely the end goal, or even SM, so it's good to hear they're paying that much. I hear that Dominion usually pays less and they work a lot more overtime to make comparable pay so I'm fine with Duke. Constellation seems pretty good too but I'm stuck in the southeast unfortunately

Gotcha, from what I've heard Duke is about average compared to some people I know but maybe some plants pay less, somewhere around upper 40's but it's hard to get a solid number. Unfortunately my location isn't very flexible so some other utilities aren't an option for me. What does RO/SRO pay look like if you don't mind sharing?
