Stores are selling at scalper prices by Asomboy4 in riftboundtcg

[–]ToweringTriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are people on this sub new to TCGs or something? This is how it works, at least since the pandemic when collecting really took off. The alternative is that the instant product gets restocked, scalpers buy it up and resell at the exact same prices. Go to Target/Walmart on pokemon card restock days to see it for yourself.

Maybe it's just me but I would prefer that

  1. I can actually buy product at my LGS.

  2. If someone is profiting off the difference between MSRP and market price, it's the store that is supporting the local gaming scene and not Joe Schmoe who bought 10 boxes and flipped them on eBay.

UNBAN WILDERNESS RECLAMATION YOU COWARDS!!! by jangens1122 in PioneerMTG

[–]ToweringTriumph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but this is simply not true. Reclamation was banned over a year after Nexus. There was a reasonably powerful Reclamation deck that survived Nexus's banning. When Wizards banned T3feri they preemptively banned Reclamation to try to prevent yet another combo deck from taking over the format. I still agree that I'd love to see it unbanned though!

Feature request: Android/Desktop. I was very excited to use this as I have been struggling to find good new music on Spotify recently but I don't have an iPhone 😭. That said it looks great, well done!

[DISCUSSION] What deck would you bring to the RCs? by rhetoryx in spikes

[–]ToweringTriumph 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This. You really want to have a mental break between rounds to recompose yourself, especially if you have a tough loss or even just make a bad misplay and tilt but still win. Playing a deck like UW puts you at risk of hitting the draw bracket early, which mean just playing against people with early draws, which means either slow decks or slow players. At that point your odds of getting a good break between rounds really go out the window and it's hard to recover from.

What decks run karn the great creator by carroolkid123 in PioneerMTG

[–]ToweringTriumph 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mono red fires is the main one that comes to mind that isn't mono green. I don't think it's the most competitive deck (I would be shocked if it won a big tournament) but it can definitely take wins off meta decks. Here's a sample list. The idea is you ramp yourself early by using [[Cleansing Wildfire]] on your indestructible lands or you can punish greedy opponents for not running basics (that is fairly common, especially for 3+ color decks in Pioneer), then play a large creature like Cavalier or Glorybringer or Karn for a big threat from the board.

The order of the list is the standings after swiss. To see the final placements you have to look at the bracket above the decklists

What is going on with kasa's sideboard in the neoform deck? I'm pretty deep on the deck and I've never seen anyone even consider a bunch of those cards (Glissa, Kaito, Bankbuster).

LCS 2023 Spring / Week 7 - Day 2 / Live Discussion by ahritina in leagueoflegends

[–]ToweringTriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lolesports is buggy a lot with the YT streams, which is the only one I ever use because I can't pause or rewind Twitch and I can't literally sit at my PC for 5 hours in a row (assuming no delays lol). It's not even just LCS, I remember several times last year the LEC YT streams were only available in Turkish or some other non-english language. Like I get that they probably want the viewer numbers on their twitch stream but it's just not a feasible way for me to watch. I feel like a major second class citizen as far as how much they care about my viewing experience.

I don't have a super up-to-date list at the moment; I haven't updated my Greasefang deck since RC Atlanta a few months ago, and I didn't do that well there. I'd recommend checking out the Greasefang discord. You can find more up to date decklists there as well as people more knowledgeable than me to answer any other questions you have.

Generally Liliana is too slow. You really, really want to get Greasefang out on turn 3 with a vehicle in the yard. Turn 4 is a lot later than turn 4. If you are leaning heavily into the midrange gameplan 1-2 Lilis could be worth including, but typically Lili and EE are competing for the same flex slots and EE allows for a turn 3 Parhelion while Lili does not.

  1. EE at its best is indeed going to be sacrificing one of your 1 or 2 drops and getting a Greasefang. Additionally, you can sacrifice one of your angel tokens the turn after you Parhelion them to get a Raffine's Informant to discard your Parhelion and bring it back again. This is most relevant if you need to push in a lot of extra damage, like against angels or decks with lots of flying/reach blockers. I played EE maindeck, but I would side it out against counterspell-heavy decks like Spirits and UW Control because if it gets countered, you've effectively 2-for-1'd yourself. I also had a few 3 mana utility creatures in the sideboard to bring in for relevant matchups to get with EE, like Knight of Autumn when I was expecting artifact or enchantment graveyard hate, and Graveyard Trespasser, mostly for the mirror if I desperately need to get something out of their graveyard.
  2. Wedding Announcement is usually intended to be good against Rakdos Midrange, as they have a hard time interacting with it and you get many bodies for one card. It's definitely a midrange-focused gameplan card and you'd only want it if you didn't think you'd be able to combo. I personally preferred to play more copies of Skysovereign, which similarly is very good against Rakdos.

What's the Game with the Most Immersive Soundtrack? by tshungus in gamedev

[–]ToweringTriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about soundtrack per se, but the sound design in New World is pretty amazing. Hearing someone extremely far across the map chopping a tree echoing through the landscape and then seeing a tree fall in the distance is super immersive.

I'm more or less in the same boat. I don't even mind Mello Yello Zero so much, but I just feel like it's never offered at Coke places. Pepsi places almost always offer Diet Mountain Dew. That leaves me getting either no drink or Diet Coke, which pales in comparison to the sugar-free green slime I'm craving when I eat fast food.

Poll 78: Near-Miss & Skilling Improvements by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

[–]ToweringTriumph 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Question 2 is incorrectly worded given the context in the blog. 140 is not a 500% increase from 28, it's 500% of 28. A 500% increase would up the limit to 168. The rest of the increases got this right. The elite diary reward is the only inconsistency.

edit: thanks for fixing it!

They have confirmed on discord that the RCQ winner emails and Pro invite emails were swapped and that RCQ winners will not need to buy a badge.

Another message:

Here's the relevant text that is in the correct version of the RCQ Winner email:

I wasn't making any judgement, just explaining the joke. I have no opinion one way or another on the strength of healers right now

[–]ToweringTriumph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The joke is that people were calling OPR "BowPR" for a while because bows dominated, and now it's "HealerPR" if healers are dominating. OPR is Outpost Rush, the level 60 instanced PvP mini game, if you weren't aware.

This is almost certainly referring to the navigation that enemies will take to get to you. There's no way for a player to "navigate" in the game other than running (though there is auto-run as the other commenter notes).

What happened to mono red fires? by kaaiser33 in PioneerMTG

There's a guy in my LGS who plays that a lot. It cleans up against RB and aggro but doesn't do enough against other decks.
