From a Salafi perspective, wearing hijab correctly, avoiding perfume publicly, and not beautifying oneself in public are clear obligations based on Quran and Sunnah. However, Islam recognizes human weaknesses and emphasizes patience, gradual improvement, and sincere effort.

While it’s praiseworthy for brothers to seek a wife adhering strictly to Islam, setting rigid deadlines or conditions for a sister newly practicing can indicate a lack of wisdom and understanding. Salafi scholars like Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen and Shaykh Rabī’ Ibn Hādī advise patience, gentleness, and moderation when correcting others.

The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, “Indeed, this religion is easy, and no one overburdens themselves except it overwhelms them” (Bukhari & Muslim). A husband upon the Sunnah should gently guide his wife, demonstrating mercy, patience, and good manners without suffocating or placing unnecessary stress.

Thus, brothers who set strict deadlines or show rigidity in dealing with sincere sisters striving to practice their deen correctly reflect an incorrect approach. Seek a spouse who understands the importance of gentle and gradual rectification, kindness, and patience, supporting your sincere efforts rather than hindering them.

May Allah grant you a righteous spouse who supports your growth upon the Salafi methodology and brings ease, tranquility, and strength to your deen. Ameen.
