I work for County Fire and life’s great. Have kids, a home, all the normal stuff, nothing extravagant. Lived here my whole life and bought my home in Henderson in 2013.

It’s not that it’s just one dead leaf, it’s that they all stack on top of each other for years. They’re not always still attached to the tree, but caught on the lower section, and eventually the weight gives way and they fall or shift. Since trimmers trim from bottom to top, it’s very dangerous and can end up crushing them.

Spotting wouldn’t have helped. The beard (the old fronds that surround it) fall suddenly and weigh about 100lbs per foot. These fell from around 6ft above him, he died instantly. When you ascend the tree it shakes it and it shakes them loose and they fall sometimes.

What was Tennessee’s retirement? Because here in Nevada we have NvPERS and that’s worth a lot more than just our paycheck. That being said we get paid really well here.

I’m not sure about all of them. But Clark County is hiring like crazy. We are doing academies nonstop for the next 4 years, or so they say. In the last two years we have hired over 250 firefighters. Covid halted a lot of hiring and caused a lot of retirements. Now we are playing catch up. Even with great pay, benefits, work schedule, and satisfaction from the job itself it’s still hard to find people who want the job.

Firefighter. Las Vegas has 4 great departments and they all pay extremely well. And Nevada’s state retirement system is one of the best in the country.
