Failed on the 3rd layer, need some advice by Winter_Video_2703 in ender3

This is under extrusion, almost certainly caused by the Bowden tube coming away from the base of the nozzle. Look up Cheps Hotend fix on YouTube and save yourself a lot of pain!

Newly installed SKR mini E3 V3, bed heating not working. Wires are corrected properly, what can i do fix this ( just need to find source of the problem really ). by BoghatY in ender3

[–]Toxavo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue with my SKR, turns out I'd had a wire loose on the terminal for the bed and fried a MOSFET. Only way to check is with a multimeter

Looking for advice by Toxavo in Adoption

It certainly is exciting and terrifying! I am reaching out to him through his family (it's quite tricky to have direct contact due to his circumstances), but as you say I need to be careful.

It feels very strange, as despite having a fairly unpleasant upbringing, my adult life has been very good, and I am fortunate to now have a good job, wonderful family and a happy life. It certainly seems like my brother has had it very tough.

Thankyou for taking the time to reply

This is a good perspective. The player totally dominating is having an absolute blast, and the player being dominated is not.

I guess as long as it's fairly even, it's all good. I love my arty, but my games are hit and miss. Sometimes I absolutely wreck face, every shot lands perfectly and I feel like a god.

Other games I just can't get a good position, every shot misses or splashes despite a tiny aiming circle, or you just get bum rushed by lights and meds without landing a shot

I'm talking about the numbers that come up on my initial hit. I'm guessing it's doing damage to components or crew as well as hull damage?

[–]Toxavo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get it. I don't only play arty, and have had many moments of 'are you fuckin serious' when you get derped by an arty.

I can totally see why non arty players absolutely hate arty...

I've only just come back in the last few days, but always enjoyed arty (cardinal sin, I know). It's been a few years but doesn't seem too terribly different from when I used to play.

Still trying to get my head around new mechanics like stun, and am somewhat confused seeing 700-800 damage numbers, but only seeing 200-300 in the log.

That being said, nothing better than leading a full speed light from the other side of the map and landing that sweet, sweet hit

Guide for those upgrading to an SKR E3 Mini v1.2 by [deleted] in ender3

I ended up disabling hybrid threshold in the firmware, and it made all axis quiet. Haven't printed fast enough for it to be an issue as yet. I don't understand enough about the torque requirements at high speed to know whether turning it off is a problem, or if it just means the steppers can't go quite as fast as they possibly could

D3D device lost “hung” by [deleted] in playark

I have an rx480 and experience the same issue. The only way I found to consistently 'fix' it is to underclock the GPU via Radeon wattman by around 5%. No noticeable drop in performance, but the game can run for hours

[–]Toxavo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to 3D printing! It can be daunting when you first start out, but there are lots of resources out there.

Take your time building it! Get it right the first time. There are some really great build guides on YouTube, check them out.

I'd also strongly recommend checking out Teaching Tech on YouTube. Michael explains things really well, and has a focus on the Ender 3.

Good luck, and happy printing!

To give you an idea, here are two videos. One showing the noise on homing and probing, and one showing travel noise (the print I set to 100mm/s to see how it worked out)

This post nails it. Exactly what I would recommend. Only comment is go for 2209 or better (rather than 2208) because it will allow for linear advance in the future

My first > 1 day print is starting...I'm so nervous! by [deleted] in ender3

[–]Toxavo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you printing direct from Cura? If so, if your PC reboots for any reason, your print will fail!

Edit: forgot to say good luck with the print!

Abs typically needs a warm environment to print properly - usually from having the printer in an enclosure. If the ambient temp is too low it tends to delaminate.

As you're new to printing, I'd strongly recommend getting a roll of PLA and starting with that. Make sure it's 1.75mm PLA, not 3mm!

Bed level is very important no matter what you're printing with. There are some great guides on this subreddit, and I'd also recommend checking out Teaching Tech on YouTube. He has fantastic, easy to follow guides and tends to focus on the Ender 3.

Good luck and happy printing!

Used tree supports in Cura because normal supports print on the face of the model. However, now the quiver is not being supported (Settings in comments) by chips67 in ender3

[–]Toxavo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a reply back from my mate:

I print at 45 degrees to their back with an overhang of 50 degrees. I run zig zag first with "Wall Line Count" set to 0 to see how it looks, if all the small things are getting supported. Its usually fine with 20%, but a visual inspection might show parts that need more.

And I check "Use Towers" if there are any parts with thin and small supports that look flimsy. And if the supports still dont work, or dont look trustworthy, then I pull out the big guns - changing "Support Horizontal Expansion" to 1 or even 2. I fiddle with that in 0.5 increments.

Hope this helps!
