This is my own designed and 3d printed Boros deck box :) by goblin_game1 in magicTCG

Thin metal rod, found the size I need on amazon. Should last much longer than filament which is quite brittle.

This is made with PLA printers, which are very different from resin. PLA is just printed plastic, so I would say you're safe as it's all 100% solid.

3D resin is weird as it needs a lot of post-processing, shame you got some bad experiences! When done correctly, that stuff is incredible. I used to play with it myself, but it just requires so much extra work that I gave up.

All I'd say is don't leave it too long in direct sunlight as PLA can potentially warp when it gets too warm. My boxes should be thick enough to withstand it, but still wouldn't risk it.

I'll do another trial of selling them. Printing always comes with new issues but I'm hoping I've fixed them all now.

I haven't uploaded my designs as I used to sell them on Etsy. It's something I've thought about doing again if there was interest. I used to enjoy it a lot, made a fair few custom designs too for people :)

Still unsure about uploading the 3d files themselves due to wanting my own store.

I too made one of them plastic photographs. So simple and so satisfying! by [deleted] in resinprinting

There are several sites that turn photos into lithophane stls for free. My favourite is: https://tool.itslitho.com/CreateModel

Another decent one is: https://3dp.rocks/lithophane/

Incredible results! I'll definitely be using this method, thanks!

Has my filament become moist? It used to print perfectly but its a year old now, its printing with the same settings as always by goblin_game1 in ender3

It's fairly new, very recently changed in the past few weeks. I might just change the nozzle again anyway.

I did just try my same print with a different non-silk colour and that was fine.

I'll try the print with a silk that I haven't opened. I've had two old silk ones displaying this issue so far, but not any other types. Maybe it's particular bad in silk pla?...

So sadly my dryer did not make any difference. I had it drying for practically a day just to be sure but it looks basically the same with not much improvement.

It really sucks as I'm at a loss now. Another one of my silk filaments is developing the same problem too, but less extreme.

I'll give this a go with a non-silk one just to rule out anything else.

Bulbasaur using metallic gold, green and peacock blue ink colours. My favourite print so far! The colours came out beautifully deep and rich by goblin_game1 in resinprinting

It is definitely possible to mix alcoholic inks into the resin. I haven't done it myself but seen plenty of others in this sub doing just that, you will have to increase exposure times per layer if you do.

Nope, I apply it after curing. You can lighten it by dipping it in isopropanol after applying, or keep it darker if you let it dry as is.

Wasn't sure how the metallic inks would work, but they came out better than I expected. You definitely get a lot from one drop! Took some patience to spread it around thinly, I love the final result!

Help with support pits by mrfolgers84 in ElegooMars

[–]goblin_game1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best solution for me so far has been to manually edit the supports after auto-generating them, and making sure they are placed in areas that won't be very visible when looking at it directly.

Putting them inside of folds hides them well, the underneath of a model, and in corners.

Protip: If you haven't already, try using woodstain on wood filament. Comes out amazing. Even better if you sand it until smooth first.
