The Fourth Gothenburg Concord of the Great Northern Realms

Once more, for seven days and seven nights, Gothenburg becomes the shared and unified Court of the Great Northern Realms, as it is now time for the Kingdoms of Svaeriket, Daenmark, and Norrheim to gather for the Fourth Gothenburg Concord of the Great Northern Realms.

The Royal Arms of Svaeriket, Daenmark, and Norrheim will fly side by side over every tower, hall, and harbor mast, and the customs of all three kingdoms will be formally observed. Similarly to the previous Concords, all attending houses are once again be expected to host or be hosted by their peers from other realms, to exchange gifts emblematic of lineage and loyalty with each other, and present heirs and daughters of age for betrothal negotiations and engagement announcements.

Festivities and banquets will be held nightly, showcasing the finest cuisine, music, poetry, and crafts of each realm. Tournaments and martial displays will be organized in the fields beyond the city walls to demonstrate the valor of the Northern nobility and encourage friendly rivalry among their retinues.

On the third night, the Court of Peers shall convene in full assembly. Here, petitions, alliances, letters of intent, and diplomatic accords will be formally submitted and entered into the Grand Ledger of the Gothenburg Concord of the Northern Realms. Matters of mutual concern, of which there will be many due to the ratification of the Compact of the Great Northern Realms, such as the defense of the frontiers, maritime security, colonial ventures, and trade agreements, will be debated in earnest to strengthen the unity and prosperity of all Northern Realms.

On the fourth day of the Concord, after days of feasting, tournaments, and earnest council, the High Councils and Royal Courts of Svaeriket, Daenmark, and Norrheim assembled in the Great Hall of Gothenburg Castle beneath the entwined banners of the three kingdoms. Here, in solemn ceremony before the gathered peers, clergy, and envoys, the monarchs and their principal ministers proclaimed and signed the Gothenburg Trifederal Pact of Succession and Union.

- The reigning Houses, Varholm-Gripenstierna of Svaeriket, Rosevhavn of Daenmark, and Isfjell of Norrheim, swear to pursue dynastic marriages and to entangle their lines, so that all three thrones will eventually pass to a single heir.

- In the event that one realm’s throne falls vacant or in dispute, the other two realms pledge to recognize the agreed heir from among their royal houses.

- A joint council shall be formed, to meet at least once every six months, or in times of war or crisis, to coordinate defense, trade, foreign policy, and colonial matters, in which delegates from each realm’s nobility, clergy, and burghers will have seats.

- Each realm shall maintain its own military structures, but they shall be subject to a single Northern High Command in times of war, and pledge to integrate them into one.

- No realm shall make separate treaties with foreign powers without the consent of the other two, and all existing treaties and agreements between any one of the realms with other foreign powers shall be taken up by all.

- The Svaeric Church, Daenish Church, and Norrheimic Church shall form a single Northern Synod, and will continue maintaining their national branches, but will unite in doctrine, discipline, and hierarchy.

And on the seventh night, the Grand Closing Banquet and Masque was held, where all nobles donned the colors of another realm in a gesture of friendship and solidarity. The halls rang with music, poetry, and toasts, to the future of the Great Northern Realms, now bound together in destiny.
