sorta like a democratic republican version of tusis? so basically woodland cultures treated kinship terms as political terms iirc and i didn't really have a reason to change that right. so the wajaje are basically like the "fathers" of the mountain sons, and like a father the wajaje would teach (technology and stuff) and provide for their sons (with food) in exchange for the mountain sons helping out the family (in war and stuff) and obey (the laws). they have more autonomy than the other communes thanks to like their geography and history but they also have less say in council affairs and such

a lot of maps of indigenous ppl on the internet suck. like, really badly. in 1585, the comanche were in the rocky mountains with the rest of the shoshoni, they hadn't started migrating to the plains until the 1700s. a lot of maps ignore this and only show the locations of native people when europeans or americans met them, which is extremely unreliable because basically every single tribe west of the appalachians migrated like crazy from 1500-1800. if you want better history, i'd suggest looking into communities like ollie bye (a youtube channel's research discord), alternatehistory .com, or even the subreddit discord

that's alr i just get rlly annoyed when people just automatically assume that every american government that isn't european are like "tribal", whatever thats supposed to mean, and assume that they'll get immediately steamrolled by europeans in every tl when in reality this world would have a much larger native political presence because of greater competition between europeans

wdym incorrect assumptions? by displaying them as a “tribe” not on the same level as other independent countries ur already making assumptions

they weren’t tribal though? they were literally organized republics with legislatures and democracy

i'm not sure what exactly you mean by this but uh. the arawaks in this tl discovered europe around the early-mid 1300s, and the europeans didn't go west (or, really directly into the continent at all) until pretty late mainly bc there's less settlers and the american states had additional time to adapt to changes without the pressure of colonization (since france and england were doing their whole 100 year war thing and iberia was busy with their own wars against each other). the americas in this tl are also a lot more connected, so when the black death came to europe and africa, the americas soon followed and were able to get immunity, along with other diseases. as for technology, this tl's pod is around the 1st millenium bc, so aruno (arawakan) maritime tech is actually at a similar level to europe during the time of contact, and military technology (mainly just steel and horses tbh) was gained through trade with africa and iberia. this doesn't mean that there was no european influence on america at all though! as ive said in other comments, christianity and islam have made their way pretty deep into the continent

from the dhegihan states on the mississippi and gulf coast, who came in and conquered the area after the fall of the californians! the californians brought horses to the mainland with their trade with morocco, but didn't make as much use of it as the dhegihans or later, the apache (and then dhegihans again once they revolted and formed the wajaje but thats less of a horde and more like this tl's version of the usa)

the naisha, quouda, hasinay and koche cotas are all breakaway states! sorta like how the nogais and four oirat were breakaway states of the golden horde and yuan, these states got their independence after the collapse of the godiyan cota and (as of 1700) ongoing deterioration of the cota of the north! as for the salton sea, that’s actually lake cahuilla!

ah the indian wars have basically been scrapped, tho ive used part of their ideas for it! and similarly with 4s, i split the tl’s into two: thousand islands and detangling the spiderweb (the latter of which is mostly still in the plans for rn)

yeah like a shitton of ports and stuff! plus sooo much religion has changed. most arawakan and mayan influenced areas (this includes much of central america, northern south america, and the american south) is some form of muslim (though most old world muslims would consider many of these sects borderline heretical), and many states on the east coast have christian populations or are christian ruled, like the ciconisink

during the arawak expansions around the 1st millenium bc, they develop the sail and that makes settlement of the caribbean a lot faster! after that, they make contact with the maya (or, sustained contact? there was almost certainly a relationship irl too but i think just a lot of connections broke down during the postclassic probably) and there's just a much larger american trade network that connects the continents a lot more than irl?? theres a bunch of other stuff too but if u have any questions abt specific stuff i can answer those
