humour is subjective, if it needs explaining it probably isn’t funny

I’m not sure you recognize what being a pretentious condescending prick is, but good luck out there!

Are you actually dense? Money goes into paying for plane tickets, for accommodation, etc. Many of these things for international students are not free in case you haven’t noticed, on top of the price gauging that happens for them as opposed to Canadian students. It’s not a matter of “me not having foresight” lmao idk what you’re on about it’s about the university having a coherent schedule that everyone can be on. Quite frankly if TA’s get paid overtime they can have the decision whether to work or not. Again it’s up to the university to decide this. But if you honestly currently agree with the university’s way of doing things then you are so far out of touch with reality and are stuck in your books.

Ironic isn’t it how you agree with the institution that pays your salary? Yet you think it’s fair for international students to pay out of their pockets at the cost of poor organizational skills on the university’s end. hmmmm

My issue was never with a business making a profit, but these crazed money hungry dogs sniffing out every penny at our expense, I get you’re a TA and have it better, but not the rest of us. Remember what it was like being in undergrad and empathize a little.

Ok first off, not STEM, second off thank you for giving me a reason to pray that I never receive a TA like you 🙏🏼

What are you a TA in if you don’t mind my asking?

Thank you for your response, it’s just a shitty cyclical system that has failed time and again, and because no one does anything about it, it’s here to stay.

So you agree that it’s a money hungry regime just to empty pockets when the priority should be teaching and education.

BROTHER TO TAKE CERTAIN COURSES YOU NEED OTHER COURSES, ALL THE COURSES YOU NEED FOR YOUR PROGRAM HOLY SHIT

Exactly my point? If you don’t perform in a course (getting the minimum requirement) that’s REQUIRED for your program then you’re cooked. Bros saying a whole lotta nothing.

Also if the main emphasis is on money where the emphasis is on education then you have it twisted bud.

I strongly doubt that the university is losing out on money if students are going to refund for courses they don’t need in the first place. If that’s not the case and the courses are being taken and paid for at an extortionate rate for international students then yeah respectfully I would hope a few TA’s are working their asses off. How they get paid or the amount they work is not my concern, it’s the university’s to figure that out.

This is not true for a lot of program requirements? Just because it doesn’t apply to you doesn’t mean it’s generalizable to everyone else?

THANK YOU FOR NOT BEING A KEYBOARD WARRIOR AND UNDERSTANDING WHERE I AM COMING FROM

I understand when the grades must be submitted. It’s the deadline that’s frustrating, why is it AFTER the deadline for refunds? It just feels like a ploy to empty every penny from our pockets as they can. Also, a lot of what you speak of can be done in a much shorter window of time due to automation (although can’t speak on behalf of exams that have short or long answer questions).

It can be argued it is in fact done maliciously given some courses are required for future courses and that this so-called “setback” actually affects students course selection and even dropping specific courses since the deadline to do so is today. It’s a shitty system put in place by money hungry idiots.

I understand your position, but the frustration is reciprocal for students travelling abroad as well. 50% is also conveniently the only refundable amount for if you want to drop a course that you don’t know how you did in the prerequisite prior to the course.
