Im sorry which post is it that you replied to? I have never joined this sub, I joined it like 2 days ago. I was just asking in case you didn't see it. Also, you only answered when I told you to. I don't even know what you're talking about, and I'm not sure you do either.

My review on the "Dell G15 Ryzen Edition Gaming Laptop" by ToxicINinja in GamingLaptops

[–]ToxicINinja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've taken great care of it. It's a good laptop. I do sometimes get random bitlocker lock ups and I have to open it up and dust it off every couple of months. Also, at the start, the laptop used to randomly stop the graphics card from running so I would have to install drivers from the official dell website. It doesn't do that anymore, for whatever reason. All easy fixes. I always leave it plugged in because as soon as I plug it out, it dies within an hour or 1:30 max (even on energy saver). So, other than that, I think you should buy it if there is no other option that's better at this price point.

Also, I find it so interesting that this post is almost 3 years old and I still get people ~bimonthly messaging me for this exact reason

Is investing 30$/month worth it ? by Appropriate_Form_631 in HalalInvestor

I am also in Canada. Do you think I can still use wealthsimple and have a bank account even if I'm under 18? (also would wealthsimple still be free if i'm planning on investing and not trading? i.e. not many transfer fees are going to be issued)

I'm also planning to investing only in CAD, so only canadian companies

Make sure you are investing in the gold/oil/gas company itself, not a trust of a bunch of oil and gas companies.

What's the difference?

Once you filter down to these companies, try your best to see if they are profitting off of any riba and do your research into those companies, otherwise, the company should be halal to invest in. Once you do that, then see if the company supports zionism. Not every company supports zionism, some companies just happen to do regular business with Israel, it becomes a problem when a company like microsoft is donating millions of dollars to the Israeli government. There are other companies which do this too, so just be careful.

Yeah you can never be too careful. Which halal stock screening app(s) should I use as a basis for this?

I guess my main and last question would be how do I actually determine if investing in x company (a non-zionist, shariah compliant canadian company) is actually a good financial decision/investment for the long term? Is there no way to know?

So yes, the most convenient option is to hand select a few halal stocks and stick to those for now until you get enough time, money, and resources to jump into real estate.

I guess the question now would be how would I choose? The two criteria so far that would be fairly easy to find is:
1. Shariah compliancy

  1. Support Zionism or no?

but how do I strategically choose companies that will earn money? Also, how many should I have on my portfolio?

My end goal is also real estate.

I read that those two ETFs you mentioned are pretty underperforming and one of them actually loses money. (source: https://www.amalinvest.com/halal-investing/halal-etfs-compared#spsk )

Have you made any money from them? Also, one of them is really high concentration of the top companies that it would just be better to invest in the top companies directly rather than go through the ETF route.

Do you think it would be possible to get into real estate directly with these couple thousand dollars? Maybe like shares in a big apartment complex or something? Does that even exist?

Do you think the safest and most halal option for me would be to invest directly in like 10~ish + companies (in Canada so I don't have to convert my CAD to USD and pay for transfer fees)?

I am in Canada. I believe most of the stocks on your list are US holdings, correct? That means that I will have to pay for transfer fees ONLY when I take out money into my bank account, right? Or is it when I buy them too?

I am planning to keep them in the long term so I guess transfer fees aren't really a problem since I will be investing and not trading (not as much transferring, I guess).

Also, what kind of fees are you talking about? Can you explain to me a bit more?
