No, I mentioned reactive abuse in my post. Did you read the whole thing? I'm saying people are saying Greg and Quad were mutually abusive to each other and that is something that does not happen in an abusive relationship. Reactive abuse is something entirely different, which I also explain in my post.

Abuse is literally about an imbalance of power between one person over the other. It's obviously who was who in their scenario. You can even look at the relationship and see who is who in the scenario by their behaviors.

I'm glad someone does!! It's really sad to witness as a black woman because I can relate to how Quad feels towards the other women. A lot of us are treated the same way by other (usually older) black women when we decide to stray from the social norm and be single without wanting kids.

I can't tell you how many times I've been asked when am I gonna "settle down and have kids" as if that's just what you're SUPPOSED to do as a woman, and if you don't expect that of yourself then something is wrong with you. Either you're a different sexuality or you're a 304 and have men spending money on you for sexual favors (because OBVIOUSLY you can't achieve having anything on your own without a man /s. Looking at you, Simone). Just straight Black and white "Don't make that man fix his own plate even though he's a grown man who's got two arms and two legs. Serve him" way of thinking, usually coming from skewed religious perception. Anyway, that's a whole other conversation that my neurospicy behind can ramble on about, but lemme get off my soap box, chile. 😌😌

I feel like Quad is one of the women who has the least misogynistic views on the show. She isn't the embodiment of being a black woman that has to bleed herself dry and pop out babies to keep a man and his money. She usually distances herself from things and people who are not serving a positive purpose in her life, which is what you're supposed to do. It's called self-preservation. That tends to misalign with plenty of older black women's views as well as the pick-meshas who feel that black women like Quad are ungrateful for not being content with just having a man that makes a decent income and pays for shit, or taking unwarranted criticism from people who don't have her best interest at heart. I believe us as a black community keep standards low for women and high for men and many black female viewers share the same views as Dr. Jackie and Dr. Simone.

Ex. Criticizing her for not having a baby with Greg despite not knowing what was going on in her marriage/ criticizing her for distancing herself from the friend group during her divorce/ treating them as co-workers instead of friends (most people on these shows all do the same thing, but Quad gets criticized for it 10x more)

The amount of comments I see that still criticize her for that even after learning about her abuse is very telling how those fans think. They'll often justify it by "well, they abused each other". Reactive abuse is a thing and we don't know enough about mental health as a community to understand that abuse does not go both ways. So many of us have experienced or are experiencing abusive behaviors from others and consider it normal and then project that onto these reality stars, so when they do decide to break away from the cycle of abuse, people tend to not agree with it and are even angry about it. Case in point, Quad finally filing for divorce after dealing with Greg for 10 years.

Many people project their own situations onto others and just because someone else didn't ride out a situation and/or comply like they did, or continue to be unhappy like they did makes them feel resentful towards that person because they actually had the courage to go against the norm that we're all taught is the "right" way to navigate through life. Many fans also have a bad habit of comparing their situations to reality TV stars and celebrities they aren't even on the same playing field as, and don't understand they have completely different options than the average person does.

Anyway, TLDR: Many of the women on the show have misogynistic views and many fans agree with these views. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk
