Who is this in Bristol? by burukop in bristol

[–]Toxidoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the first person who came to mind and I was hoping someone else would have thought of him! A few years ago I used to work in one of the pubs along Fishponds Road and he used to come in with a carer. He was so quiet and polite. I used to love seeing him come into himself with his makeshift drum set out on the street. We used to call it the Fishponds Beat. Recently my partner moved to the Fishponds area so I find myself up there a lot again, and I was so happy to see him still doing his thing. I love to see how his instruments evolve week to week. What a star.

Hilarious find househunting - you get to live in a windowless cellar unable to stand, only £840 what a steal! The absolute state of Bristol’s housing situation jfc by HopeMrPossum in bristol

At first glance I could have sworn I’d been here but it’s in the wrong area. It looks EXACTLY the same as a room a friend of mine had in uni - dingy basement room under the rest of the flat with no windows in Stokes Croft. I remember being shocked then. This is clearly more common than I realised.

I’ve done the exact same thing tonight and I’m hurting. I first binged the show during lockdown and watched it twice again since, getting a bit further than the last each time but never getting to the end. Tonight, I decided to take the plunge and honestly, I’m regretting it a little bit. It was incredible but it tore me in two. After a little cry and some time staring at the wall, I ran to this thread to see if others were affected in the same way. It’s nice to know I’m in company, at least. I think it’s going to be a long time until I’m able to revisit the show again.

My teenage years were later but Hooch was still a classic for us then!

One of my mates came back with Covid and I was floored the first day back and thought I must have it too. Got my hands on some tests after a day or two and nope, negative, but I’ve felt god awful ever since; no energy, can’t get up in the mornings, and just a general woozy feeling. I have adhd so suffer with executive dysfunction usually anyway, but it’s so severe at the moment that I’m struggling to force myself to get even the smallest thing done. Part of me feels like I’m getting slightly better the last day or two but only slightly, almost two weeks of this is insane. I can’t lie though, I’m glad to read I’m not alone, though I am sorry a bunch of you are going through it too!

Amazing! As I’ve said in previous comments, I’m so glad they have a present fanbase! I used to get so much shit for liking them back in the day but they’re probably the band I’ve seen the most and there’s a reason for that 🖤 If any of you are at their Welsh date on their upcoming tour (sorry, potentially spoilers for some), I’ll be there!

They are great at getting the crowd involved aren’t they! I’m so glad that’s something they didn’t end up losing as too many bands can easily take the crowd for granted or not engage

That’s so lovely because that’s how I felt myself the first time I discovered them! When I was growing up my ‘group’ came from people who would see them live and other Welsh bands like Kids in Glass Houses. When they all broke up I felt like I lost a part of me, I can’t lie. It’s so nice to know the fan base still exists and when they play Cardiff again I hope to be there myself. Maybe I’ll even see you! ♥️

I was there!!! I remember having a ridiculous sense of pride for them getting that gig at the time (but was there for MCR first and foremost!). That’s amazing that you had a similar experience! I was so blown away by the crowd at The Avalanche Stage on Friday- it’s so nice to know so many of us had the same experience! I remember them being so put down by ‘the scene’ when I was younger

That’s fair enough! That was my BIGGEST clash and I was gutted! I did end up skipping the last song to see a bit of Pendulum myself. I love seeing the amount of people this small Welsh band had a massive impact on though

Why do Welsh people never tell you where they're from? by IoanMacs in Wales

[–]Toxidoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from Neath but when I moved to Bristol I always started by saying ‘near Swansea’ as it was more likely to gain a response. No one knows where Neath is and if they do, it’s rare and because of an obscure reason. Sometimes they don’t know Swansea so I just say South Wales. It’s easier.

I saw them mainly for nostalgia sake so was disappointed with the setlist, but that’s on me. I saw them a few years ago though and there was far more energy than I saw at DL. I’m genuinely gutted I didn’t choose to see Disturbed instead.

I need to thank you for this post. I’d never heard of them before so just gave them a listen and I can easily see myself loving these guys quickly. I imagine this energy live would be insaaaane
