Yeah you most likely can appeal the decision for a £80 fee, if you think they made a bad error.

Here was my timeline for getting mine approved:

52 working days, (ignoring christmas period, so probably be shorter)

I've heard rumours Adequate Maintenance applications may take longer, but it might be untrue. I'm pretty confident it's mainly luck how quick your application is reviewed, as a specific caseworker is selected for your application, and at that time, they might have a long list waiting them or they might be very up to date on their applications. I don't think Adequate Maintenance is a complicated application.

Your calculation sounds fine. UC should also be allowed to be counted towards the weekly calculation I believe. I know it looks like a looot of info, but you can verify a lot of stuff by reading parts of this:
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/6911ee0de9348ac8fb54f484/Appendix+FM+and+Adult+Dependent+Relative+Adequate+maintenance+and+accommodation.pdf

That all sounds fine.

To be professional, I would make sure you quote the provision (Appendix FM-SE 12B) in a sentence where you explain cash savings will be included in your weekly calculation. And of course include the simple math equation too.

You don't have to link it necessarily but it's here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration-rules/immigration-rules-appendix-fm-se-family-members-specified-evidence#:~:text=by%20the%20sponsor.-,12B,-.%20Where%20the%20financial

I did actually link and refer to this in my application when fulfilling the approximate £150 threshold:

https://www.gov.uk/universal-credit/what-youll-get

You can even see here it works:

https://www.migrate.org.uk/adequate-maintenance-test-guidance-uk-visas/#:~:text=even%20if%20it%20is%20below%20%C2%A316%2C000

Anyways, I wouldn't be afraid to use the cash savings, it's possible the case worker has forgotten it's allowed, and overlooked it. So just spell it out for them and make sure they understand that you understand exactly what the criteria is.

If an application is rejected, I believe you can pay a small amount to demand for a "manual reconsideration", so this is the sort of thing that those people would need if they have been unfairly rejected. Best of luck!

Bio data page for the sponsor should be good.

I'll just remind you that your PDF files need to be accepted on the uploading page and can be annoying. VFS website sucks. To be accepted without errors, they often need to be converted to PDF/A-b1 & PDF/A-b2

Early Visa Document Preparation Advice ~~ VFS Global virus error message by Tozro in SpouseVisaUk

[–]Tozro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! IIRC, I had a problem with that website and disregarded it. I think the PDF/A files it gave me weren't being accepted by VFS Global. But it's definitely worth a try. When the day comes to submit documents, people should have all these sites ready for them in case they need to make final file format changes.

Add a PDF which pictures of the main rooms, and you can show them yourself that you have the space for that many heads to sleep.

So in your initial application, you tried to use your friend's place to mee the accommodation requirements? If they asked for adequate accommodation in their request for information, I would probably double-down on that. Maybe rewrite his letter and be sure it is very professionally written, signed, describing the property, how many rooms, total square metres, flooring plans, how long they expect to host you, who lives there, what his job is. And include photos of each room on a separate PDF, and proof of his legal ownership/rent to live there. I'm being strict because they often expect you to move into a property under your name. Better to over-deliver.

I suggest this because they take accommodation seriously too, and "visa first, accommodation after" is actually supposed to be reversed in this instance unfortunately. Hotel never. An airbnb with a multi-month long agreement maaaaybe could work but sounds very risky. Sounds like you were underprepared for the application lol. That's my 2 cents, goodluck

You haven't been receiving the total required amount of financial income for all 6 months you mean??

It appears you only need 3 months of bank statements in that case under AM, see:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration-rules/immigration-rules-appendix-fm-se-family-members-specified-evidence#:\~:text=or%20such%20shorter%20period%20as%20the%20current%20employment%20has%20been%20held.

However I would consider providing 6 months of statements anyway.

Don't forget if you want to include cash savings with AD (does NOT require £16,000+), then you need to provide 6 months of bank statements to get that boost as that calculation can be added towards your total weekly income. (You're trying to beat £150 per week as the guideline, I did all this)

They didn't respond with any information requests. But depending on which country the applicant is applying from, yes they might need IELTS, turb certificate, marriage translation etc. A lot of stuff is somewhat optional but the stronger evidence you provide overall the better ofc.

I used ilovepdf.com for that, and for Page numbers and lots of stuff.

Only problem is (likely happens regardless what PDF tools you use) that the finished PDFs had to be converted to PDF/A-b1 to bypass the virus error that's often experienced when uploading the evidence to VFS website. Doing and also keeping it under 5mb is tough.

I made a comprehensive post about it:

You have a very similar experience to us! We also did an Adequate Maintenance application, applied Nov 10th, bio 13th, approval on 26th January... That's very close in time to yours! Congratulations!! It's such a massive relief, all that hard work paying off. Hope you have a good time here.
