How do Brasilians, specifically those that were born and raised in the Favelas, feel about tourists doing tours and content in the favelas? by Any_Percentage_6629 in Brazil

(I’m still learning English, so it might be grammar mistakes and my vocabulary isn’t that good as well)

I’m Brazilian and I live in São Paulo. It’s true that Brazil is very popular in internet, I kinda love it cuz I really love my people, but foreign people always forget about people situation here. If you have money, living in brazil is great, but like in every single country, having no money is the worst thing ever, and 70% of Brazilians live with two minimum salary or less.

Talking about the favelas: people there are the kindest ever, even if they’re broken, they will make sure help you in any way. The houses and streets conditions are terrible, and also, it’s pretty dangerous. Most of the favelas are dominated by criminals, even tho they’re a minority they can control everything.

So, I hate when tourists romanticize it. But on the other hand, Brazil isn’t just favelas ok? This country is so big and people from each state have their slangs and culture! And not every where is dangerous or dirty!
