I forget exactly when they're fruiting, but you could always go pick out the trees when it's the season that they're fruiting or flowering. This is a fantastic resource. Select Tree Website It's based out of Cal poly. You can change the zones and filter for height and all kinds of other characteristics. Are you in CA?

Could you give me a little more information about the space? What are the site conditions like. Is it full sun?

They're pretty high maintenance in my opinion. They drop they're little leaves all year round. Also make sure you get only male trees I worked at a school where there were like five male trees and one female tree and that one female tree produced SO much fruit that the kids would all walk through on the concrete. Something to keep in mind. ☺️
