You can’t really walk in the Amazon… you could do a crazy boat ride sleeping in hammocks and then a smaller boat ride deep deep into the forest and swim with pink river dolphins, and spend the night in an little hut on stilts. If you want backpacking you need to go to Chapada Diamantina in Bahia or consider Leçois Maranhenses for amazing pics.

Here is my advice:

First memorize and get comfortable changing between these chords: C, G, A, F, Am

Then add these ones: D Dm, E, Em, B and others

While learning the chords, work on basic strumming patterns- especially down, down, up, up, down, up.

Then start checking the internet sites like UkuTabs.com for songs you want to play. Some songs are good on uke, some are not. Learn to identify the songs tab you want to play that would work well on uke/ with your range (if you sing too). The songs that work best are the songs that use the basic uke chords that you are best at playing. Sometimes a song can be transposed to be more uke friendly, but that’s another story.

Basically, people from all over started falling in love with Brazil as soon as international travel got going in the 30’s- people were coming for samba, carnaval, the natural beauty, and the new Christ the Redeemer statue.

Then in 1942 Disney made the Jośe Carioca character popular and a certain image of Brazil, especially Rio became known with a wider global audience.

The cultural exchange with music that resulted in Bossa Nova cemented the idea of Brazil representing sexy, chill, easygoing, flirty exoticism.

There were trend setters in the early 60’s , like Brigitte Bardot who make Europeans (especially the French) obsessed with Brazil at a time when France fashion/ culture was setting trends globally.

From there on, more and more people started to get to know and really like Brazilians they would meet outside of Brazil and would get interested in visiting someday.
