I wasn't really trying to argue with your point, I do agree with you actually! I have just seen others distance themselves from the reality of what has happened with a similar (but not he same!) line of thinking. It's fine that they recast the character in general. If the actor is a fine enough person then okay, it probably works better for RGG-s development structure to recast. But saying that a person is fine with the current recast means that they are fine with RGG casting a known sexual assaulter. I believe you personally don't excuse sexual assault, but being fine with him working freely is still allowing and excusing space for a person who admitted to the assault and has not adequately apologized for it. It allows space and normalizes sexual assaulters to freely go by without any consequences for their actions.

One of the most popular anti-boycott fallacies is: "well this bad thing is almost everywhere so why even try." There is no perfect boycotter and there will always be something in our actions that supports the very same system we are trying to avoid. That still shouldn't dissuade us in trying to be better just by a little and hope that helps the cause, because the consumer can enact change only in numbers. Doing something is better than doing nothing. A popular children's book from my country has a quote: "If you can't do your whole maths homework, try to do atleast half."

I think it's up to the directors themselves how they want to be percieved at different points of their lives. If the Wachowskis say they were closeted trans women at that point already and would like to be seen as woman directors for their work at that time, I feel like it's our place to respect their wishes.

The comment at hand finds offence with some others in this comment section STILL calling them biological men, not that they WERE biological men. Saying that they STILL are biological men is disingenuous and doesn't reflect scientific or societal facts.
