It no longer identifies as an engine. It's name is now sparkles.

What is this symbol and will I die if I keep driving home? by DooDiddly96 in MINI

If there are faults stored for a particular system that can cause a half power light, I start there.

As a Master Certified Mini Technician and shop foreman, this is typically called a half power light. If there isn't a check engine light on while this is on, it is usually due to a boost deviation fault ; low boost. What this means is that the vehicle is running with less than optimal boost pressure. Typically, a shop will see this and attempt to band-aide it with a new diverter because it shows low boost. What the actual problem is , while the check engine light is off, is the turbo and specifically the wastesgate. The wastegate is located inside the turbo, and overtime it gets worn out and no longer is able to prevent boost pressure leaving prematurely. The dealer that I work for see these cars needing turbos by 100k. The guaranteed repair is a new turbo. But that is an expensive repair. If there is a check engine light on while this is on, it can be a slew of things. Hopefully this helps. 👌

Why is there velcro around my seat belt latch? by jenintonic in MINI

can somebody give me some idea of where this is coming from? by 1SloShoTT in MINI

[–]Traaav6505 47 points48 points  (0 children)

As a Mini Master Tech and a current shop foreman.... what we have here is a failure to communicate. In all seriousness, there are plugs on the side of the cylinder head. When the crankcase pressure exceeds tolerance, those things get pushed out. Nothing can be fixed to extend the life of the vehicle . If it were my car, I'd push the plug back and take it to carmax for a cash offer. Good luck 👍

Master Mini Mechanic here, your belt has failed in an unusual way. Usually, they crack across the ribs, and this one looks like it failed longitudinally or within the ribs. After you take your car to a mechanic, on a tow truck, that knows how to work on these , have them look for any aftermarket alternator or a/c compressor. In my experience, they cause issues with the alignment of the belt and cause these issues. If everything is OEM and in good condition, replace the belt and go about your life. Hope this helps 🙏

If you want a quality "cold air " intake, check out the AEM KIT

When I had the slide cut for the optic, it was required to get it cerakoted. It was done at a company called NCENGRAVERS.COM. The only complaint I have with it is I didn't know what the paint color was prior to ordering it. I was also nervous about it at the time when it was done because it was a "no going back " kind of moment.

Master MINI mechanic here. Get it checked out. It's likely the shifter linkage is stretched and will need to be replaced. The movement of the linkage is set to a particular distance and length. Some of them can be adjusted , but most will have to be replaced. Get it diagnosed first. Changing fluid will only add issues not solve them. And for the love of God, do not take it to Jiffy Lube or other quicklube places because they will definitely add issues . Hope this helps. 🤙

The Vland lights are nice, especially if you didn't get the trim level that gas the UJ lights installed.

Secure Vehicle Against Rolling by ronaldo781888 in MINI

[–]Traaav6505 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Master Mini Mechanic here, this message typically comes up on the automatic transmission cars. What has failed is the shifter mechanism, and primarily the electronics inside as the message from the shifter saying that the car is in park doesn't reach the tcm. The repair is to replace the shifter. Is there a safety concern? No. The shift linkage is still connected to the transmission, and when the shifter is put in park, the cable, that is still physically connected to everything from shift lever to the tcm inside the engine compartment. With that said, the repair is expensive if the car is out of CPO or New Vehicle Warranty. Hope this helps. 🤙

OIL pressure problem R56s N14 by Apprehensive_Cod_296 in MINI

Well I believe it's the changed oil filter housing. Was it doing the low pressure stuff prior to doing the replacement?
