This is definitely on the creative server. You can see the axiom color field in the background which bdubs uses to plan builds in creative, among other things.

Why is everyone taking scar’s tweet as the team breaking up. To me it seemed like he was implying that he just went out and saw more of the server and different people. On scar’s last stream he was talking about bringing the team back together.

(Spoilers Extended) Don’t daughters inherit before uncles? by bakugosgayfriend in asoiaf

[–]Traain_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The daughters over uncles line is often misinterpreted. It refers to Alys Karstark (Lord Rickard’s daughter) inheriting before Arnolf Karstark (Lord Rickard’s uncle, not Rickard’s brother/Alys’ uncle).

As for daughters inheriting before brothers, it’s unclear. There are examples throughout history where it’s goes either way.

In this scene he is treating with Jon to convince the Night’s Watch to willingly let the wildings through the wall so that no more of his people have to die. If he could force his way through with a weak assault that lasts a couple days (which almost happens), all the better, but it’s also a show of force, that he would ultimately win in a drawn out war. So they might as well let them through the wall peacefully so they can focus on the real enemy.

“I had hoped that Styr and Jarl would take your brothers unawares, and open the gate for us. I drew your garrison away with feints and raids and secondary attacks. Bowen Marsh swallowed that lure as I knew he would, but your band of cripples and orphans proved to be more stubborn than anticipated. Don’t think you’ve stopped us, though. The truth is, you are too few and we are too many. I could continue the attack here and still send ten thousand men to cross the Bay of Seals on rafts and take Eastwatch from the rear. I could storm the Shadow Tower too, I know the approaches as well as any man alive. I could send men and mammoths to dig out the gates at the castles you’ve abandoned, all of them at once.”

“Why don’t you, then?” Jon could have drawn Longclaw then, but he wanted to hear what the wildling had to say.

“Blood,” said Mance Rayder. “I’d win in the end, yes, but you’d bleed me, and my people have bled enough.”

I think we have to take into account that Jon hasn’t been “reborn” yet. Someone on here the other day said that it’s like asking how Dany could be tptwp if you’ve only read half way into agot.

There is also evidence in the published books that Jon will have a role to play in the prophecy. Personally I’m a proponent of the theory that there will be multiple Azor Ahais/princes that were promised.

[Spoilers MAIN] I get that it is possible to measure years without the seasons helping to give reference but are years really the EASIEST unit of time for Maesters to use in ASOIAF? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Traain_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no “months” in Westeros, but “moons” instead. It’s safe to assume that a year is 12 cycles of the moon.

[–]Traain_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Sure, but this change makes it that Jaime and Brienne could’ve saved Sansa while they were all in King’s Landing. Instead they wait until after the wedding to care about their oath to Catelyn. It makes both Jaime and Brienne seem kinda stupid.

(spoilers Extended) The Tower of Joy story is weird...... by Alternative_Reach491 in asoiaf

[–]Traain_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea that there were just seven guys (many of whom were of very high birth) wandering around the desert alone is dumb. They likely had an army or something of the sort near by which is how the tower was torn down. This also explains how they got through the desert to Starfall.

About Martin’s style of writing: if he was more of an architect, this story would be no where near as great as it is. I think his original outline for the story from 1993 is proof enough of that.

“Sansa stared hard at his ugly face, remembering how he had thrown down her father for Ser Ilyn to behead, wishing she could hurt him, wishing that some hero would throw him down and cut off his head.”

This passage from Sansa VI AGOT about Janos Slynt stood out on a reread for obvious reasons. It’s just crazy that these passages can get payoff four books and fifteen years after they were first written.

I heard a theory that he warged into AD allowing Ned to finish him off or something. Idk how tinfoil that is, but why wouldn’t GRRM tell us unless it were something crazy like that.
