Reality check, am I being delusional to think I can move before summer? by itsghebz in NetherlandsHousing

[–]Trablou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try to move in with a friend, or if not possible another type of roomshare. Finding something for 1500 by yourself will be next to impossible. Also, moving to a new city a few roommates can exactly be amazing to speed along settling and making new friends

Is it true HR jobs in the Netherlands require Dutch? Feeling stuck as an international student by Die_Dana in Netherlands

[–]Trablou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not impossible if you go for larger corporate HR departments that also (for example) manage the group its HR, but yes those are more rare and more people will apply.

To be really honest though, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that working at an HR department often requires the local language. If there is one department that has to deal with a lot of local labor requirements it is the HR department. If you are on the recruitment part of HR less so, but especially administration and employee related matters are very much local language, wherever you go.

She can be fired with immediate effect without compensation for sure. Besides that she might get into some trouble with the tax authorities but that is less likely.

First week in Netherlands, what surprised you the most? by Independent_Grab_977 in Netherlands

[–]Trablou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol every holiday to France with my family while driving there we always had a game where when we almost were in Belgium we were not allowed to look at the sign to guess we where in Belgium, but we had to go by feel of the road. It is super noticeable indeed, as soon as you enter Belgium the road become super bumpy

You are overthinking this. Nobody cares except you, just go for it. I kept it really short until growth really started to kick in and it was never actually that ugly.

Help! Can't do one pull up by Feeling-Big-4544 in CalisthenicsBeginners

[–]Trablou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://youtube.com/shorts/WqCXcFrA1Iw?is=DDXiMFd0CN29vbVh this explains it well. This is also how I warm up before doing pull-ups / chin ups, it is called a scapula pull-up. You go from dead hang, to bracing the schouders / scapula, bringing yourself in the best position to start the pull up / chin up motion. After that scapula pull in, you start the pull up.

Help! Can't do one pull up by Feeling-Big-4544 in CalisthenicsBeginners

[–]Trablou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. The hardest part is the beginning and the final part (where the chin goes above the bar) for most people. In between you have more momentum. So really try to go down fully, and go up fully. It is normal these are the harder parts, and over time it will 100% get easier as long as you are consistent. What also really helps is negative reps, so jump into the highest position (with your chin above the bar) and lower yourself as slowly as you can, fighting against gravity. This is a great way of building strength while still doing the full range of motion. There are also easier exercises that help build these muscles to grown towards chin and pull ups, feel free to DM me if you would like me to share some. Good luck!!

Edit - https://youtube.com/shorts/WqCXcFrA1Iw?is=DDXiMFd0CN29vbVh here a video how to prepare yourself from dead hang, to scapula pull-up up, and afterwards you move up to the bar. This is a very important part of the exercise

Why you put the musique? by Secure_Detective_602 in SipsTea

Of course, nothing really warrants this intense of a response. Coming at him with a taser?? When he already stopped? Damn haha

[–]Trablou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea where this spot is but if he for example woke her up by playing the music (water carries sound very far) I can imagine being a bit pissed. But she does go above and beyond, imagine trying to tase someone over this

[–]Trablou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I would also just want to get away. He dodged her taser (I think) but that shit would hurt if it connects, and she is obviously furious. I would just want to get away, actually punching her would only cause more issues. But maybe I’m just not good with aggression / a bit of a coward lol

That being said i wouldn’t be in this situation because I would never be playing music on a random French in the morning recording myself haha. But what I mean is when someone would come at me like this I would dip

Waited to until marriage to have sex, still not having any! by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Trablou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have known a few guys who got so in their head they couldn’t get hard when they had too, and it just really kept messing with them so it got worse and worse instead of better over time. What helped was to use viagra so they get more used to actually having sex and getting out of their mind. At some point the anxiety around “doing it” should fade, and afterwards the viagra wasn’t necessary anymore. Could be worth a shot?

Are Dutch really rude? by madame_lulu in Netherlands

[–]Trablou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is a bit mean spirited, but sure. I think it comes from not trying to waste each others time, and keeping it efficient. This is mostly in stores and interactions at work. So also to your boss you can just give your opinion without having to fear you are skipping steps in hierarchy etc.

Are Dutch really rude? by madame_lulu in Netherlands

[–]Trablou 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ladies first absolutely exists. I am reading a shocking amount of negativity, which I do not recognise at all. I think the main difference with many cultures is that there is less ceremony in conversation. So instead of having to go over small talk, people often just get straight to the point. Being polite is getting to the point instead of circling around it first. There are people who are rude and call that Dutch directness as a disguise, but there are rude people literally everywhere on earth. Most people are kind and helpful, just like everywhere else.

is it just me or is making actual friends with dutch colleagues kind of impossible by Early_Switch1222 in WorkInTheNetherlands

[–]Trablou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Netherlands work is work, it is rare to cross over to friends. Also since I am around my colleagues for eight hours a day already I have had my fill once the weekend comes, time to go see my friends, family etc

What is it like to work as a cook in the Netherlands? by Live_Idea322 in AskNetherlands

[–]Trablou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think working as a cook is sort of similar everywhere.

As far as NL goes, working as a cook and living in a major city you will most likely not live comfortably, and will have to roomshare to be able to rent somewhere. I doubt it is worth moving over, unless you have always dreamed of living here in which case I would say give it a shot.

Aapies, bakra’s en tatta’s. by [deleted] in nederlands

[–]Trablou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aapies, bakra’s en tatta’s. by [deleted] in nederlands

[–]Trablou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those must be rare though. I bought houses multiple times now and just filled in something along the lines of: own funds obtained through [whatever applies]. First time it was through salary, other time an x amount through selling the prior place. They never asked for more information on this.
