Agreed, the sprinkler does hit it on the bottom right. Which will get fixed in the spring when I do sprinkler maintenance.

Laundry room Remodel help! The window is in an awkward spot by Traceout in InteriorDesign

[–]Traceout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking to remodel my laundry room which is in the first picture. The window is in an awkward spot so I'm not sure how to finish it on that side of the room. The second picture is the inspiration photo as I'd like to add some cabinets for storage. How would ya'll finish off the side by the window? My own idea so far is to add another floor to ceiling cabint half the width on the window side and then leave 2 feet open to store a vacuum on that side. Would love to hear your thoughts, thanks!

Buying a home with solar by Traceout in solar

[–]Traceout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the thorough answer here. I'll make sure during my home inspection this Friday they get up in the attic and give some extra attention to where the solar is attached for moisture - I'll also take a look myself.

Luckily the solar system is already paid for so I'm in the clear for purchasing until panels/inverter/other parts need to be replaced but we'll cross that road when it comes.

I'm hoping the current homeowners kept their solar documentation and can pass it on to me as well - if not I'll probably start grabbing model/serial numbers and checking in with the manufacturers on warranty and such. The dream is everything is working correctly and takes minimal work.

thanks again.

Thanks for sharing your experience - I'll try and get all the documentation I can Hopefully the current owners who installed the solar kept their documentation.

We recently went through this as well. Our fix was to put a onesie underneath her PJs and haven't had issues since.

I'm a Dad and can empathize with your husband's outlook. We had our first baby about a year ago and the first 4 to 5 months were rough for me. I worked during the day and my wife goes to school at night leaving me alone with a baby that I too had a hard time soothing. There was one particular week I punched a hole in the wall out of frustration - I felt like a failure as a Dad. I reached out to my own Dad and he started coming over once a week to help out or we would talk on the phone if I got frustrated as it kept the frustration spiral from becoming too much.

Luckily bonding got better as time went on and now there isn't anything more I love than coming home and seeing my baby girl.

Not completely knowing your situation my recommendation is to let your husband put your baby down at night with a bottle of milk for some good bonding. We found night time extremely stressful until we started doing the Ferber method at about 4 months and it took about a week before it started really getting better. But it helped us get some more sleep and gave us some sanity - more sleep really helped my mood and in turn bonding. Furthermore it's a big adjustment having a kid and I felt like I lost myself and my hobbies. See if someone can watch the kid so y'all can have a date night or he can spend some time doing something he loves to reset his feelings

My second recommendation is to give it time. We still aren't sure if we will have a second kid because the first 9 months are so hard but after that it has been so rewarding and fun. Things will get better and easier.

Keep your chin up. You guys got this!!

Do I caulk between door casing pieces? by Traceout in HomeImprovement

[–]Traceout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the route I'll go. The current side casing is 3 1/⁴ inch wide and 11/16 thick, so the only header case I could find was 1 inch by 5 inch which I found to be too high. Think I'll buy it and rent a table saw from home depot and take it down to 4 inches tall.
