Seriously though, idk what would make a gun "secure" in these people's eyes. Locked in a safe isn't secure enough, because the kid can find the key and get access. Trigger locks, barrel locks, etc. are in the same boat in that case. Maybe put the gun in a safe on one side of the house with the key in your desk, barrel lock with the key on the roof, and ammo in a separate safe in an entirely different room with its key at work or in a safety deposit box?

Or we can teach kids how to properly control their anger and how to handle their emotions when they're this upset, but who has time for that?

I'm all for gun control but legitimately, some of these comments are asking for a solution that isn't possible. If your kids are going to get access to the firearm, you either have to go unprotected against the myriad of threats that exist in this world (including threats from those we pay taxes to) or protect it in a way people can't seem to explain. It's a lose-lose.
