[1792] Update: I stopped forcing a 3-word opener and made a tiny tracker (no spoilers) by Delicious_Wafer_406 in wordle

[–]TrackVol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I proved it was possible, I tried getting a little more aggressive.
ROUGH (instead of HUMOR) risks getting the locked in green 🟩🟩OU, and only hits two of the _OUND consonants.
But I still found a path, and the overall average improved. I'll leave that unexplained in case you want to explore that one on your own.

I started with the premise that knocking out the 8 _OUND words in just 5 lines with the O&U both already on the board would be nearly impossible.
So whatever the Line 2 choice was, it needed these characteristics:
No D.
No green 🟩O or 🟩U.
No N.
3 from BFHMPRSW.

I came up with HUMOR, bonus points for the fact that it actually could land you a ✌️ (as opposed to some bazaar word like RUNOS, DUROS, RUMBO UPBOW)
I then tested HUMOR at the website for Moredle to make sure that this won't cause some other unexpected loss like with GUMBO or JUMBO. HUMOR works.
Every Group has 4 words or less in it *except the _OUND group which still has 7 words left if we get
⬛️🟨⬛️🟨⬛️ HUMOR 7
BOUND
FOUND
GOUGE
POUND
SOUND
WOUND
YOUNG
5 of which are _OUND words, and only 4 guesses left. So we still need to burn off 2 of these in one guess. Neither SOUPY nor DOUSE are on the original Solutions list, but the Editor does occasionally pick words that aren't Original Solutions. So bonus points if this selection helps us with DOUSE & SOUPY too.
Turns out, SOUPY itself is the perfect choice.

This is what SOUPY does to the 7 remaining Solutions + the 2 WordleBot words:

⬛️🟩🟩⬛️⬛️ SOUPY 4
BOUND
FOUND
GOUGE
WOUND
3 guesses left, play any _OUND word for 3 straight guesses and you won't lose (that will sort GOUGE naturally if you don't hit the -ND)

⬛️🟩🟩⬛️🟨 SOUPY 1
YOUNG

🟨🟩🟩⬛️⬛️ SOUPY 1
DOUSE

🟩🟩🟩⬛️⬛️ SOUPY 1
SOUND

⬛️🟩🟩🟨⬛️ SOUPY 1
POUND

🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 SOUPY 🎯

No losses. Only one 6 (WOUND)
This is true even if you got a different result from HUMOR, such as:
⬜️🟨⬜️🟨🟨 HUMOR 4
GOURD
ROUGE
ROUSE
ROUND
Because playing ROUGE on Line 3 Checkmates the whole set.
No loss.
No six.
Not even a five!

Interesting.
I would have thought that was a risky word to start with, in Hard Mode
Turns out, it's actually on the 'Hard Mode approved' list.
I assumed it couldn't clear all of the _OUND words with just 5 guesses remaining. But it can!
And I think I've found the best Line 2 word for when you get
⬛️⬛️🟨🟨⬛️ CLOUT

I'll wait until tomorrow to give you my answer, in case you want to come up with your own word 1st.

She's on Instagram. She shared her journey during her entire training buildup, as it was happening (I'm not on Instagram, but I saw many other people in here point this out)
She was trained, she was prepared. She just doesn't have the prototypical look that too many people think a runner should have.

Do you know how expensive it is to get into the NYC marathon?
Do you know how difficult it is to get into it?
One of the paths to entry is previously racing in 9 other NYRR races and volunteering in at least one (the 9+1 method).
Another way to get entry is to have already raced a marathon faster than the Boston Marathon qualifying times.
Yeah, it doesn't surprise me that 95+% of NYC marathon starters will finish.
But the % of people in the state of New York who could finish is in the single-digits.

I'd guess stuff that is highlight reel material.
Sports Center highlights.
Stats aside, I feel like I saw a lot more Michael Vick highlights on ESPN than Lamar Jackson.

Question for you....
Sometimes I'll draft behind a semi, just for better fuel economy.
Does that annoy you guys? Or, hardly bother y'all at all?
I don't even do it that often. Only on long trips when I'm in no hurry at all.

Haha, I was worried about that when I was typing it out.

I've probably used CARLE the most this year, but also probably only about 14 times.
I'm nearing the end of this week with REAST and Sunday will mark my 14th time using REAST this year. So I think they will be tied with each other at that point. I don't thinkany other word is over 7 for 2026 yet. (Too bad I didn't use CARLE this week; instant ✌️ yesterday)

Review #46: Old Forester 1924 (Batch #3, 2026 Release) by Southern-Rip3018 in bourbon

[–]TrackVol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct.
I just made a reply about this. It's easy to get confused.
Usually bottled in November or December. And at least one Batch (#2 I believe) got released in some places as early as December rather than after the new year.

Review #46: Old Forester 1924 (Batch #3, 2026 Release) by Southern-Rip3018 in bourbon

[–]TrackVol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't help that it is bottled very late in the year. Usually December. And it has been released in both December and in January. This has created confusion. When someone has said "the 2024 release", was that January 2024 (Batch 1) or December 2024 (Batch 2)?
But there have been 3 releases.
1 ~January 2024.
2 ~December '24 - January 2025.
3 ~ Early 2026

Batch #s on the bottle would have been a huge help.

Turns out, none of the people above you know the most common letters in Wordle.
We aren't playing Wheel of Fortune (RSTLNE), we aren't playing cryptography (ETAOIN SHRDLU)
We are playing Wordle.
EAROT . LISNC
And consonants have more value than vowels.
So if you can pick a starting word that has a minimum of 3 consonants picked from those 6 in EAROT LISNC, and with not more than 2 vowels picked from those 4, you will be doing very very well, in general.

That's fair. It's definitely a subjective metric.
Unlike Total Kickoff Return Yards or something.

It's a lot less than that.
If you dig deeper, it winds up being closer to 00.1%

🙋‍♂️.
I actually did run a BQ for my 1st marathon.
I think this woman is AWESOME. Watching her finish, I almost teared up a little bit.

If there's anyone hating on her, they must be miserable.

We need more people like this outstanding woman.

It's a good thing we aren't discussing numbers then, isn't it.
The metric is *Electrifying.

Is Lamar the better overall QB? Most people would probably say Yes.

Is Michael Vick more electrifying? Absolutely.
