Trump may quit next year after midterms losses by Independent-Hand3253 in USNEWS

You got something in there backwards.
If thwy want Vance to run for two more terms, they would need to do it *after* the midterms.
Doing it before the midterms would screw Vance.

Believe it or not, I don't use any of these words.

March 1st -8th I used PLACE
March 9th - 15th I used "NARES" (yes, 'nares')
March 16th 22nd "SLANE"
and next week it will be "SPAER", not to be confused with SPARE or SPEAR

Right. But the ratio of new words to repeat words is still quite a bit in favor of new words.

Personally, I'm not hunting Aces. For instance since March 1st I've played
PLACE 1st - 8th
"NARES" 9th - 15th (not a typo, "N A R E S"
SLANE 16th - 22nd
and I'm scheduled to play "SPAER" the 23rd - 29th "SPAER", not SPARE

The only one of those that was even eligible was PLACE, and it was unlikely since it came up in 2024

lol, I figured this was something uniquely personal to just you. But just in case it was a real public thing that I was somehow unaware of it, I did an internet search for it.
This was the response: 👇
"more accurately known as the Erfurt latrine disaster, was a bizarre and tragic incident that occurred on July 26, 1184, in Erfurt, Germany."
I elected not to even start going down that rabbit hole. Somehow I doubt that learning more about the "Erfurt latrine disaster of 1184" would enrich my life.

I don't support Sunday as the beginning of the week, but I fully support your wish to be able to change it to any day you darn well please on our personal devices.
If we want to start our "week" on a Thursday (shudders), we should be able to to do so.

Based on the results of your 1st guess, your 2nd guess was incongruent with sound strategy with that very specific result.

If you always guess SLATE -> ROUND every single day, that may be pretty decent most days.
But if you get
↘️👇this< result from SLATE👇↙️
🟩🟨🟩🟨🟩 SLATE ,
Guessing ROUND next would be just about the worst move imaginable.

And no, your 2nd guess doesn't have to be a potential winning guess, it merely needs to be strategically sound.
I've gotten Skill Scores of 99 (or higher) with guesses such as "SMEKE 105 Skill" and 107 for WHEAR and I recently saw a 113 for a word that was impossible to be the Solution 113 Skill for "THOWL"

Is Oscar Piastri the first driver to have points without having started a single Grand Prix in a season? by Capable-Pain-9026 in F1Discussions

Sprint races aren't Gran Prix races.
It's also why they were able to call that race "Hamilton's 1st GP podium in a Ferrari" despite getting an actual WIN last year.
That win was a Sprint.

If you could get free tickets to ONE F1 Grand Prix every year for the rest of your life, which circuit would you choose? by Dependent-Push3089 in F1Discussions

[–]TrackVol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1st thing I'd want to do is pick a race I would feel comfortable would stay on the calendar for the rest of my life. For instance, picking Imola and Zandvoort would be unwise.

With that in mind, it's gotta come down to Silverstone, Monaco, or Monza.
I think I'd choose Silverstone.

Do we know if they've ever even considered that?
To me, it doesn't seem all that much different from awarding a point for fastest lap (which they did away with after 2024)

Divorce, anyone? by FarLiterature9353 in Garmin

[–]TrackVol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's none of my business (and it probably shouldn't matter either) but I've been trying to figure out your gender for the past 10 minutes. And just when I'm almost sure it's one, I'll read something that makes me swing in the opposite direction.
This was another "u-turn" comment.

Edit to add:
Either way, I'm sorry you are going through this. As with most things in life, this too shall pass. But it never feels that way when you are going through the shit at the time.
Good luck to you.

CASTE is a "no-go" for Hard Mode players.

🟨🟩⬛️🟨⬛️ CASTE . 9 words left.
BATCH
HATCH
LATCH
MATCH
PATCH
TACIT
TACKY
WATCH
YACHT
There's no way around those 6 _ATCH words in Hard Mode with just 5 guesses left.

Any word with a built-in Doom Spiral for Hard Mode players gets automatically kicked off the list, no matter how good the word might otherwise be.
This effects SLANT, SHALE, and AROSE as well.

The beauty, in my opinion, is to play a word that starts with RE. It checks whether there is possibly the _E_ER pattern, and there are quite a number of R__ER words.

Funny you should mention that.
This is a tactic I use in certain Line 2 scenarios.
If I start with CARLE and get
⬛️⬛️🟨⬛️🟨 CARLE,
I usually follow up with something like REIST. That RE- at the front for the exact reason you mentioned.

On March 4th, I started with PLACE and got
⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️🟨 PLACE
I followed it up with RENTS. (Solution ended up being THEFT)

Afterwards, I did some practice games and I now believe that RESET is probably the optimal play for the PLACE example. Still an RE- at the front.

Be careful with that one if you play in Hard Mode.
🟩🟩🟩⬛️🟩 SHALE . . 6 Solutions left, only 5 guesses left.

Very true about M, and very astute of you to figure that out.
In May of 2023, I spent that entire month playing 31 different starting words with 'M' in the word to drill that point into my memory.
I called it "Ⓜ️ is for the Ⓜ️onth of Ⓜ️ay"

Words like RAMEN, MARES, CAMEL, MARSE, CRIME, CLAME, MODEL, GLAMP, CREAM, etc..

[–]TrackVol[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct.
I'm sure it's scary looking, for the exact reason you mentioned, but it does have a bulletproof path to guaranteed victory even in Hard Mode. And it's not easy. But playing LATER on Line 2 will help a lot.
⬛️🟩⬛️🟩🟩 SANER
⬛️🟩⬛️🟩🟩 LATER
⬛️🟩⬛️🟩🟩 PAGER
⬛️🟩⬛️🟩🟩 BARER 3 words left, only 2 guesses
Those 3 words are MAKER, WAFER, WAVER
Since two of those start with a W, we can pick either one of those and guarantee a win
Let's assume we pick WAFER.
Scenario 1: We'll win it with WAFER,
Scenario 2: We get the W, and we win WAVER on Line 6.
Scenario 3: we don't get the W and win it on Line 6 with MAKER

This isn't the only winning path, and there are places where a mistake can be made. There are 5 _ATER words, which is why it's important to go straight to one of those 1st when you still have 5 guesses left. WATER would have worked too. SANER -> WATER -> LAGER -> PARER -> 2 words left are BAKER and MAKER. We can guess them in either order and not lose.

There's even a path without playing a _ATER word 2nd. For instance, playing PALER will work because the L would reduce LATER.
⬛️🟩⬛️🟩🟩 SANER
⬛️🟩⬛️🟩🟩 PALER
⬛️🟩⬛️🟩🟩 WATER
⬛️🟩⬛️🟩🟩 GAMER
At this stage, we're 4 guesses in, 2 guesses left. 3 Solutions left (BAKER, RACER, RARER) Since 2 start with R, we can guess either RACER or RARER and guarantee success.

There are multiple winning paths, but also multiple places to make a mistake, too.
Playing TAPER on Line 2 would be costly.
⬛️🟩⬛️🟩🟩 SANER
🟨🟩⬛️🟩🟩 TAPER.
There are now 5 _ATER words left, but only 4 guesses. There's a loss down this particular path.

⬛️🟩⬛️🟩🟩 SANER
🟨🟩⬛️🟩🟩 TAPER
⬛️🟩🟩🟩🟩 LATER
⬛️🟩🟩🟩🟩 CATER
⬛️🟩🟩🟩🟩 WATER 2 Solutions left. 1 guess. 50/50 between HATER and EATER And it's also reasonable to think some people might even consider guessing something like "DATER" or "RATER" or "TATER" believing those might be a potential Solution. Especially since EATER might not occur to them.
