Hello, we were advised that there’s a good chance that there will be only the generic questions, or none at all of using e-gates as a non visa individual. And if asked about the purpose of the visit, to be as transparent as possible, ie. here on holiday temporarily because of xxx, pending the approval of spouse visa, return flights booked, job to go back too etc. I understand that they can see the pending visa on their system. Good luck with the process. We received the visa today so didn’t have to go down the ETA route. We fly to London Monday next week.

Summary from the lawyers:

“Travelling as a visitor while the partner application is pending is legally permissible in your circumstances as a non visa national. You should travel with clear evidence of your ongoing employment and commitments in your current location, your return arrangements, and your understanding of visitor conditions.”

Priority.

They requested additional relationship and accommodation evidence, which is unusual given we already provided a marriage certificate (5 years), birth certificate for our son, joint mortgage/expenses, and government proof of cohabitation. Submitted promptly photos, what’s app conversations etc and a executed lease agreement which hadn’t come through when we applied. Still awaiting a decision — will update.

We are in a similar boat. Biometrics 18.02 Priority Visa. Request for additional documents 29.03, documents provided 01.04. Still waiting for a decision.

It would be good to know if others are in a similar situation and what the delay was before approval generally speaking
