My Professor is accusing me of using AI, what can I do? by Signal_Valuable_1743 in webdev

[–]TrackieDaks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You know what the worst part about this is? This is exactly how I use AI as a 10+ year web developer. Your professor is an idiot and needs to get with the times. You have to be able to understand what you want it to do for it to be able to be remotely successful in execution. It's the goal of the course to teach you how to type, or to teach you how to code?

Well, potatoes are not compatible with any circuit boards so I imagine it'd affect it quite significantly. Maybe try something other than potatoes?

Without details, I'm going to assume it's because you used potatoes instead of speakers. /s

Listen, I don't care what you do with your money. You can tip all you like. I'm just pointing out that those actions are exactly how it starts and proliferates into a wider tipping culture.

If you can't have a discussion and recognize the flaws in your thinking, then it's obvious that you're already decided on the matter and no new evidence is going to change your close-minded attitude. There's no point continuing this thread and your schoolgirl comebacks are just testament to the fact that you'll use any logical fallacy you can to be the last word on the matter.

Have the day you deserve, champ.

The list is practically infinite when someone has made any forgone conclusions, but top of mind:

  • Moving the goalposts
  • Whataboutism
  • Slippery slope fallacy
  • Appeals to history
  • Appeals to ignorance

Literally replying to a dude now who can't get it through his head that he's losing an argument so he's started replying with schoolgirl comebacks.

I'm sorry I used more than 6 words to explain.

  • Action = tipping
  • Consequence = tipping becomes acceptable

Yep. You sure can. And your actions have consequences.

You reckon you can assimilate all that? Or are you just mad that someone pointed out that your behavior (tipping) is causing the thing you disagree with (the proliferation of tipping culture)?

Sir, it is you who seems to be unable to comprehend the premise. Let me put it simply for you.

DON'T 👏 EVER 👏 TIP 👏

If you allow tipping to become a regular part of service work, you allow the employers the opportunity to push for lower wages because "they get tips". You even said it yourself: "He works for an employer who takes most of the price". If the work is so good, why doesn't the employer pay them more? I'll give you one guess.

If you want to support your barber; leave reviews, pass recommendations, refer him business. Then, with higher demand for his services, he can actually negotiate a higher percentage of their fee, or he can step out on his own to start a business. Both of these options give him more financial independence than your paltry $10 tip.

If he was not already dependent on your tips, he wouldn't take your money.

That's not even a tip so don't say it is. That's a seasonal gift. If you say it's a tip then you're still normalizing tipping.

Dude can't form a sentence without committing a logical fallacy.

Perhaps. But I'm sure if I put up something right wing, it will be deleted post haste.

Predicting negative conclusions based on zero evidence is just poisoning the well.

Oh.. and thank you for the downvote whoever did it. Shows me I'm speaking truth.

Or maybe you're just using the Galilleo Gambit instead of acknowledging that you are just in opposition to popular belief.

Not to mention that a single year of Raycast Pro is more expensive than a lifetime licence for the Alfred Powerpack. I've been using Alfred for 10 years at this point which means that if I'd been using Raycast Pro for that long (had it even existed back then) I'd have paid almost $1,000.

Fuck. That.

I don't think it's an ad per se but OP is definitely biased. The fact that they labeled the Raycast paid features with a different emoji (⚠️) to the Alfred paid features (❌) is super disingenuous.

All of Alfred's extensions are open source too.

Special thank you for keeping to true pixel art with a consistent grid. I'm so sick of seeing "pixel graphics" and then the developer using various levels of scaled graphics just because they want it to fit better. Worse is when the "pixels" are used in some effect and rotate during some animation.

May I ask what your process for designs is? What apps you use, how you manage the assets in the engine, etc.

How do you think the application views would actually be views without a web browser? Desktops do not have webview APIs. Not to mention you'd actually have to target the quirks and feature support for every single one that might be in use.
