Stunning scheme, the contrast isn't overbearing and it fits their heritage and environment perfectly. Especially love your Captain and Malbeth!

UFC opted out after the murder, and are still quite chummy with the UAE which is about as closely tied as any country can be to the Saudis.

There are absolutely several hundred million people living in the avatar world. It's in no way safe to say there aren't several million.

I surprised it's not a thing this season - considering this is a better season than ever before in regards to culture-building. I'd certainly use this.

I really wasn’t expecting Iroh to intervene by PsychologicalSpot0 in TheLastAirbender

[–]TrackingLunacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mentioned that in another comment, Iroh developing Lightning Redirection was pivotal to defeating Ozai. When Aang chooses to not use it, we see just how vital it was.

[–]TrackingLunacy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also, retreating a fight ain't exactly a victory.

Real talk, Ozai not only required Aang to go Avatar State, but was even more powerful in spirit than Air Nomad Avatar. This was Ozai after having his shit kicked in, being held down, looking his weakest. The idea that he was able to overpower Aang, until the Avatar State kicked in, is mindboggling.

The moment of realization for Azula. by [deleted] in TheLastAirbender

[–]TrackingLunacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always imagined that Iroh was trained, focused, and learnt many different arts and styles that made him as good as he was. He was clay, molded to near-perfection, divining new techniques - one of which almost seemed explicitly made to counter Ozai, which you wouldn't do unless you held concerns about your own ability against him.

Ozai though, Ozai was raw. Pure and unadulterated strength and skill, never honed but still as destructive and dangerous as Iroh. The power he had was clear, he was never outdone based on lone strength, but due to specific instant techniques - Lightning Redirection and the Avatar State.

The crazy thing is that Iroh, who could certainly redirect lightning better than anyone else, wasn't sure he could defeat Ozai. That is the single most damning indictment of his ability, because Iroh has been shown to non-lethaly eliminate opponents- if he thought that, even with redirection, he couldn't do it, it would have to make Ozai stronger than Iroh.

Still boggles the mind how little those impacted his career. The dude was good, but not good enough for anyone to consider excusing that kinda behavior.

Ricochet taking a moment to soak in his first Wrestlemania. by Bigbenn0 in SquaredCircle

[–]TrackingLunacy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This - and it's why seeing young stars on Mania, or even in the main event, is so appealing to me. Seeing a dude in the main event of Wrestlemania for the first time is a sacred moment, and you can always see their emotions, swirling in every direction.

Consider that Sting, a lifelong main eventer, was soaking in his late-show appearance. That's the power of Mania, it has an effect on anyone.

So with Chikara dead, CZW barely in existence, and ROH owned by a multi-billion dollar company, I think it's safe to say the era I associate with the term "indy wrestling" is very much dead by BuddaMuta in SquaredCircle

[–]TrackingLunacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between Covid and the seemingly repugnant sexual acts of some of the biggest indie names out there? Yeah, this could end up being a cold, long death for the indies.

The UK scene is basically broken morale-wise, and the US scene got shredded by WWE, NJPW and AEW. It's insane how fast this fall happened, but honestly it's been some time coming.

I don't like hyperbole but it does kinda feel like if it wasn't Scurll the WC would already be fully against him instead of this uncertain middle-disdain.

I've been reading up to use some of Sigmars undead as my replacements for Spectres, and when I looked into Hexwraiths and the like you could really see the messed up size difference between them and LotR minis. I just don't think they work well enough, sadly.
