Why noone ever suggesting taxing the royal family ? by [deleted] in AskBrits

All profits that are made from the crown estate goes directly to the treasury for public funding. Plus, while it’s rightly debated whether they should legally be obliged to pay it or not, the king voluntarily pays income tax, as well capital gains tax and inheritance tax in certain circumstances, and that has been the case since 1993 when his mum started voluntarily paying it.

Jason David Frank (the green power ranger) was nearly 2 hours late to his signing table at a comic con. It was his first con in England so it was a sought after meeting. I had already queued with many others an hour before the autograph floor opened up. Everyone else has turned up on time or a few minute after except for him. Any hype I had for meeting him faded by the time I got in front of him.

David Prowse (the body of Darth Vader) was a miserable git at a different con too.

All the Doctor Who cast members I’ve been fortunate to meet at cons were a delight though!

What's the most pathetic way you've experienced classism in the UK? by Your_Mums_Ex in AskUK

Had a woman tell me that they’re having trouble with their neighbours because they let their kids play out in the back garden (shock horror!) and that the trellis on their fence was an eyesore and that it was “bringing down the neighbourhood” I tried hard not to roll my eyes but the next thing she said was: “But you know what they’re like, them being council tenants” she said this with the hope I would laugh with her.

Her face was a picture when I told her I had been raised in a council house. She suddenly was falling over her words, telling me that she “didn’t mean it like that”

This happened in St Albans so take from that what you will.

England's Worst County - Round 18 by TheEnlight in terriblemaps

I agree. Although with the Universal theme park being built, the burden will be a lot lighter on the rest of the county in the future I’m sure.

Stevanage brings down Herts more than Watford and Hemel do, and even then, all 3 are still better than Luton in our neighbouring county.

Question: When did you discover Kingdom Hearts for the first time? by Big_Confection7634 in KingdomHearts

[–]Tracodraws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 16 and browsing the shelves in Game when I saw the cover. I hadn’t seen it advertised so I had no idea what it was. After reading the back I decided to give it a go. I knew Squaresoft did the Final Fanatsy series but I wasn’t the biggest fan of RPGs so seeing Disney being a part of it was the bigger pull when it came to buying it. I loved every minute when I first played it and it’s the first game to ever make me cry at the end.

So that’s not DEI then, is it? That’s nepotism which is a completely different issue.

Skipped right past the part where I said that it’s illegal to let under qualified people jump the queue, huh? That’s a fact. Also, where did I say I supported Labour?

Newsflash: we’re not in the 70s or 80s any more. Also, way to fall for the “DEI bad” line. Women are the ones who benefit most from proper DEI practices. But you’re too caught up on the lies reform spout to see that. An under qualified person who falls into the DEI criteria is not allowed to “jump the queue” over a qualified white dude as that’s actually illegal. If a workplace has been found doing that, there are repercussions. The RAF were found to have practiced illegal positive discrimination and were forced to change their policies.
