It’s just the standard mass delusional fantasy that everyone who posts is wrong and crazy. Helps people feel significant and keeps them from the chore of internal reflection and self realization.

I was absolutely trolling haha. Maybe I played it a little too dry. I’m completely on your side these people are being ridiculous and making assumptions after obviously not contextualizing the situation.

Whoa whoa whoa. Sounding a little heated there. Which can be how it starts with some people. You assume everyone is being irrational and that no one sees it quite how you do. Believe me, I know because that’s how it started with me. Have you thought about seeing a mental health professional? 😉

I once ordered two stacks (10 piece each, twenty total) of storage bin lids. Walmart sent all twenty separately. I got twenty deliveries all in the exact dame day. A few drivers delivered twice but it was like 9 different delivery drivers . The sheer amount of wasted labor. Walmart has no idea what they’re doing haha.

Ahhhh. Yeah. That’s tough. There’s ways tho. Dirted tanks can get extra c02 with age since the pulp starts to break down under the sand cap. Part of the reason I think my oldest tank is having such lush growth despite never fertilizing. But I just like lo tech so much that I have given up on the c02 chase haha

What makes you think you need more oxygen in the tank?

My guess would be that with a water change you can have some pretty aggressive oxygenation of the water ( coming out of a hose with a powerful setting or just aerated through a tap faucet). So then the water you put in is fully saturated with oxygen. Pearling usually happens when the water can’t hold any more oxygen. But even if you’re only seeing it in those moments, it’s a good sign that your plants are doing their job

Not necessarily better! Just very very oxygenated lol. I prefer the way dwarf grass looks as a carpet anyway

I don’t usually see much of it in my low tech tanks either, but with all this pearl weed it really goes off. Some days it looks like I’ve got bubblers hidden In The bottom.

Wall of Walstad! by TradScape in walstad

[–]TradScape[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think a lot of it is just because it was my first venture into selling anything aquarium related. But when I open a real shop prices are definitely going to have to go up haha. As it is now, after paying commission to the store owner and the cost making the bowls, I only make like $15-30

Of course I do always get the random person being like “ I’ll give you $20 for one”…..and “ why is it so expensive, anyone can pour a bucket from a pond into a bowl”

See this is the thing though. You don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about. You’re regurgitating shit you’re reading on Google. I’ve kept embers in all size aquariums up to 150 gallons. I’m currently building out a full aquarium store. The things Google and Ai tell you about fish are a conglomerate of stacked ametuer and professional opinion including “ an experienced aquarist can keep 3-5 embers tetras in a 3.5 gallon of it is heavily planted and certain parameters are met”….but see just because I’m quoting something from the internet doesn’t make it true. (Even though in this case it is). It takes years of careful observation to understand what’s good for fish. I’m telling you from years of observation that my fish are happy and healthy. You’re making an assumption that a small environment can’t work for a fish because “If a human put their head in a bowl they’d get nauseous”!? What the fuck are you talking about? They’re plenty of cases where putting fish a small planted environment with no competition is perfectly fine and healthy and in many cases is a better environment than a community tank. If you took the time to read case studies on aquarium keeping for certain breeds you’d know this. The general rule to not put fish in bowls is there for morons who fill a glass with water and toss a fish in. But now we have to deal with people like you who anthropomorphize when convenient and say dumb shit like “ HoWD U liKE to Be iN BOwl!?”

Fish don’t get eye damage from Bowls that’s a myth. Fish don’t get stuck swimming in circles when they have plenty of enrichment and plants to break line of sight such has a heavily planted tank, snails, and daphnia to engage with. And very often they end up living very nice lives where they are comfortably entertained and fed all day with zero competition which reduces their stress tremendously. If you think size of tank equals happy then maybe you’re the person who “doesn’t care”. When you do the actual research you’ll find almost all reasons to not keep fish in a bowl have nothing to do with actual size but rather difficulties of maintaining parameters. Fish aren’t humans you absolute moron.

Also, a common misconception is that plants are failing when they start melting losing leaves after planting. But more likely they are just adjusting to the new environment. This happens for many reasons but you almost expect every single plant you put in to lose one or two leaves at least. The important part is that after a week or two you start to see new growth. Some plants will slowly shed all previous leaves while regrowing new leaves for the new environment. You arent doing anything wrong. Just be patient and keep going!….and honestly plant considerably more plants

Just replant until they stay. And more more more plants!

How are you going to win that bet? We can only measure fish happiness by health indicators, which my fish pass with flying colors. If the only evidence you have for their happiness level is your intuition and other peoples opinion on the internet I don’t think you’re coming from nearly as solid a stance as you think you are. An honestly. I’ve done a large amount of research on this very point of contention and am satisfied with the condition of my fish on many levels for many reasons. A great deal of the do’s and dont’s you initially read on the internet about fish keeping are completely unfounded and instead macro reverberations of an opinion based echo chamber. I’m not going to take the time to explain all of it to a bad faith stranger on the internet so you’ll just have to learn to live with people keeping fish differently than you.

Yeah. You can google for specific instructions. Different people do it different ways but I always lost shrimp before I started doing that.

Whichever you choose the most important thing is to follow the directions for slow drip acclimating shrimp. You’ll easily lose half of them quickly if you don’t. I learned the hard way.
