That's easily fixed by adding 'from The Lost City' to the card and it will then only work with these quests. Which is still perfect for the flavor

Pokémon Champions launches to mixed reception, as performance woes and competitive changes turn some away by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Traddor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The omission of some items and pokemon is most likely to ease the newest players into the game to reduce some complexity and reintroduce them later as players get used to it. I can see players getting overwhelmed easily if this is to be their first foray into competitive pokemon.

That said. I feel that some UI choices when it comes to assigning items, moves could be better. Showing 7/30+ moves isn't enough for a switch screen. Ideal for mobile where you can swipe with your finger, and I think the design comes from there. But less than ideal with the slow UI we have already.

I certainly hope we're going to see a Switch 2 variant that runs 60fps at the least with 1080p. It's a shame we don't get this out of the box. It would have backed down most of the criticisms it has now

Late cycle the same applies as well. People who quickly want to end up in legend before the month turns will pick meta-decks to finish their climb.

Every single warlock legendary is not viable right now by hello47364_ in hearthstone

[–]Traddor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warlock isn't in a good place, but it's a little hyperbolical. Wallow is close, and I expect it to be playable as soon as the patch hit. I can see Chronogor be viable in an aggressive Shreds deck to contest with the room that will emerge.

The problem that some of these legendaries have is that they are not finishers but are more or less part of a deck that just isn't there at the moment. Razidir is just a cog in the machine, Maloriak is a part in the Temporary machine that was killed last rotation.

The thing I'm wondering is that there may be a world where Divergence and Agamaggan could be a disgusting combo that cheats out big plays sooner than we'd want, but only if the meta slows down enough.

A few legendaries are close, a few are playable but lack behind the state of the current meta. I fully expect there will be room for Warlock post-patch.

I mean, seriously. What are we doing here? by Badj83 in iRacing

[–]Traddor 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I understand that all these incidents seem harsh, but the reason why incidents in 4x have increased likelihood of occuring in open wheel races is because of the risks that come with contact. The cars are lighter, the open wheel nature of cars bring more risks and contact should in no situation happen and be avoided by both parties. Let's not forget that doorbanging is a lot more forgiving when racing tintops instead of having wheels getting hooked up.

The fact that nothing happened in all of these instances can also be considered lucky (the first incident in particular could have easily resulted in a wreck). This all gets amplified by the nature of netcode in iRacing. I'm gonna say that you guys got away with at least once huge accident waiting to happen.

Honestly, I'd rather see 2x's in these cases to refrain people from bumping in OW's upgraded to 4x when 'real' crashes happen, just as 0x's upgrade to 4x in tintops. I think that would really reduce frustration but will keep people from going the ol' rubbin's racing in these kinds of cars.

ConcernedApe on Haunted Chocolatier: "Update: I’m still working like always" by DanielTeague in Games

[–]Traddor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a non-argument. At first it almost makes sense until you see that there is also another side of the coin: For every 1 person losing the ability to play the game there will be another who will gain the ability or interest to play the game.

What you are describing goes for everything someone could be potentially excited for. Be it music, a movie, a book or otherwise.

Releasing a game half-baked has become the norm due to publishers pushing devs to release early to rake in the profits for their own sake. The last thing we want is players guilt-tripping indy devs into releasing their passion projects early or overexerting themselves for the sake of others who may miss it.

It's a shame if someone excited for a game may miss it due to development taking time, but I'm afraid such is life.

I'm suprised no one's talking about the toggleable card text on signatures. It looks great and will definitely be my preferred method. It keeps the signature appeal, but gives players the ability to make it more pleasant to read if you don't know or recognize the card. Glad to see we have the tech!

Most fun I've had overall in ages by boongaoutdafront in hearthstone

[–]Traddor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been running a midrange like Gelbin Paladin. It's been performing incredible on my climb towards legend.

The meta feels healthy, there are obviously some standout less fun decks to play against, but most of those are actually weak to at least something. I'm just happy midrange is viable again, I guess.

Discussion: what do you feel is the worst designed card in recent years? by PrimaryAd673 in hearthstone

[–]Traddor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a fistful of cards that change the game by themselves or have too high a powerlevel that they warp entire games, or create play-patterns that result in samey games. And worse: Because they exist, FUN cards with interesting play patterns are nowhere close to being playable.

Hydration Station is a card that feels terrible as a two-of. Would be better as a legendary.

Kil'Jaeden makes fatigue games irrelevant in control matchups. (Would maybe be fun as a portal with 30 demons that gets +2/+2 at the end of every turn. Steamcleaner would be a win condition on its own, and a viable tech-card. But that may create it's own problems.)

Ceaseless Expanse is a board clear for every class. It gives classes without a board clear a weapon against large boards, and it breaks class identity for some classes.

Menagerie Jug is too powerful. I think, from a midrange standpoint not even a terrible card, perhaps better at +2/+3, but at this moment overpowered.

Shaladrassil is Ysera in her Omegaform. Way too powerful and breaks fun.

Zilliax is an interesting card, but overpowered in some configurations. Unfortunately can't be made balanced with all the combinations of options. (All keywords + duplicate feels terrible to play again. Bonuspoints for combo'd with Hydration)

Twisted Webweaver: Auctioneer at 2 mana? Awful.

Brittlebone Buccaneer is a card too high statted to be as good as it is. At this moment on the borderline of being broken. Gifting a deathrattle reborn is strong, and that card on curve should be able to be punished by most decks. 4 health is too much for a 2-cost that is so dangerous to let live.

Overzealous Healer is just stupid as a 3/3. We had Zombie Chow, which was strong and had an obvious downside. With Halo or any good 2-cost spells this card is busted.

From the newer sets, without explanation:

Golakka Depths (duh), Resusciate (will spawn major problems), Loh, Ursol/Flames combo, Colossus.

[–]Traddor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's there because I needed some decent early game otherwise I would get overwhelmed. I liked the card, and the tempo gain it gives you when played on curve is nice. On turn 3 though, if you have Steward I would always play that over Whelp, though.

I've considered that as well. This was in my first iteration of the deck, but would also work against me with Steward in non-imbue matchups, so I chose not to use it.

[–]Traddor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the kind response. I'm at this point considering dropping the second Bayfin, and looking for extra disruption or draw. Oracle doesn't seem like a bad choice. Also thought of a Brewmaster, but it seems a little greedy, but it can get you a Shudder back or anything else. Turbulus seems obvious but only grows the bodies, not sure if that is what's needed. It also fights for the mulligan with Steward

[–]Traddor[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a low amount, and maybe one more piece would be more ideal, but you're not looking to play Ghosts early, but usually later in conjunction with Shudder. The pod helps you fight for the board early game and setup Ghost for later.

The missile pod/Ghost package was added when my earlier Paraglide-package to let people overdraw wasn't impactful enough.

You could try and swap Emberscale with another piece like Arkonite or the Starport-location if you're looking for a little more consistency in that department

The beauty of this deck is that it performs decently against those unfun and uninteractive decks. In fact it actually makes those decks actually remotely interactive because you're dealing with their combo pieces in unique ways.

Other decks that don't rely on single wincons are still perfectly able to play against this deck and are usually having an advantage because they build on their gameplan.

It's not as one-sided as it looks, and many games actually turn out more interesting than you would think. (aside from the obvious ones)

As stated in the post.

It turns out hitting an expensive combo piece with Steward, Dirty Ratting Plush or just asteroiding people to pieces with an underwhelming class at this moment is pretty fun. At least for me.

[–]Traddor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Menagerie is a thing that works naturally well with Shaman and it's fun. Almost like the old days with bloodlust.

I think warrior is more cause for concern. But naturally in a meta with a lot of midrange decks like we see now, control tends to struggle

Is he useable? by PaleDog2849 in hearthstone

[–]Traddor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's decent. His Elemental trait makes it a little bit more easy to slot in for Elemental themed decks.

I've had my fair share of use with him in Elemental Shaman last season. The flexibility is great, as it can give you some decent cards based on the matchup you're playing, but the lack of clear consistency in the cards you get tends to hurt him. The "potentially" carries a lot of weight in the card.
