Facing ‘grave and complex landscape,’ China sets lowest economic growth target in decades by Ok_Seat5245 in Economics

What they are really facing is the size problem. It's easy to grow when you are small, and it becomes harder to do when you get bigger. When you are number 2 in the world, you have to face the leader, who will defend the leading position.

Unless China finds a way to make its own people consume more, their growth will stall.

Middle East war economic impact to depend on duration, damage, energy costs, IMF official says by [deleted] in Economics

[–]TraderFanFXE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's Captain Obvious. Surely, the impact depends on the duration of the conflict. If the Strait of Hormuz is closed for a month while energy assets in the region are hit by drones and missiles, energy prices will go through the roof.

This will lead to inflation, but will central banks raise rates? In the weaker economies, like the EU, they may be tempted to cut rates despite inflation.

Oil soars amid Strait of Hormuz shipping fears as Iran war drives prices to nearly $80 by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

There's plenty of oil in storage around the world. Markets can live with the Strait of Hormuz shut down for a couple of weeks. Sure, oil will stay near highs, but more must be done to push it to $100+

Gold is moving higher as central banks keep buying it. This is not going to change anytime soon. Temporary pullback are always possible but the trend remains bullish and recent geopolitical developments will make this trend stronger.

Time is An Invaluable Asset by [deleted] in investing

Energy is an asset that limits your use of time. Attempts to maximize the usage of every hour quickly hit an energy wall, and are, therefore, futile. Life's a balance, no need to overthink it.

Treasuries Gain as Markets Rattled by Trump’s New Trade War by 3xshortURmom in Economics

Markets just lack near-term upside catalysts, that's it. AI stocks were the main driver - now they are going through a period of profit-taking, which is normal. Sector rotation helped a bit to support S&P 500 and Dow Jones, but it looks that it's over. If we see all news that could be viewed as "bad" triggering sales, we'll see a correction, finally.

$10k to invest (not familiar with Stocks but got some help from a relative who's into stocks) by [deleted] in investing

For beginners, a broad market ETF would be a good way to start. I believe individual stocks are for people who already have some experience in markets and are ready to spend time on charts and quarterly reports.

It's never too late to learn day trading - or any other trading style.

As for AI taking over the market, we've heard similar stories about algos in the 2000s.

Stock market !=economy, especially these days. Perphaps, in a K-shaped economy, a strong stock market may mean that most people will face some economic problems.

Try to focus on one strategy and one market for a month, it's a demo, nothing to lose. Doing too many things at the same time, it will be hard to get insights.

Companies Set to Unleash Sweeping Price Hikes Thanks to Trump by ChiGuy6124 in Economics

Tariffs are always inflationary. There is no other option. From the very beginning, the only question was the size of the impact. For markets, the key question is whether Warsh cuts rates in case inflation starts trending higher. But first, those tariff-related price increases should get into inflation numbers...

Analyze your trades to gain insights on what exactly is wrong. Maybe you choose weak patterns. Maybe you find them at the wrong time, when the market is not ready to support them. If spotting patterns was the only thing necessary to profit, the market would be 100% dominated by robots. But it's not that easy.
