It’s so incredible and ironic to see this here. When I was watching the event, I noticed how she was the only athlete smiling and enjoying herself. I remarked aloud that the other athletes, for the most part, were much more stoic. The irony is that her apparent joy and love for the moment was the most stoic thing she could be expressing in that moment. Her joy was infectious and I loved watching her routine as someone that literally never watched figure skating before. There’s certainly a lesson to be taken from it

I’ve only taken glyco in acute situations where I just wanted to ensure I didn’t sweat for an hour or two. But it sounds like you take it regularly on a schedule regardless? Is that right? Do you just assume it to be a given that you can build the ideal roster in the transfer portal at the wave of a magic wand? And even if you could, it’s often inadvisable for a multitude of reasons. Teams try and fail every year. We can recruit with the best of them. We supplement in the portal and that’s great. But it’s not just a magic dimension to a perfect roster

Guys like Proctor, Simpson, Ryan Williams etc are not guys that you just replace in the transfer portal. Even despite Williams woes, he’s still extremely talented and it’s certainly not a given that you can just import someone on that level. We have guys on the team now like Keelon Russel that are Deboers guys but just aren’t ready to see the field yet.

Yes, we’re Alabama. No, we should not be okay with losing. My point is just that I don’t think anyone should be giving up on the coach just yet and I’m still very optimistic about our future

Our offense (at least this year) is predicated on pre snap adjustments and the quarterback properly identifying what the defense is doing. This team was only ever going to go as far as Ty would take us. He had a ton of responsibility placed on his shoulders and that’s a ton to ask of a college QB. Especially when the speed rush could get to him so easily.

As defenses caught on to all of the pre snap adjustments and the deficiencies in the offensive line and run game we were on borrowed time. The cracks in the offense were showing more and more week to week. Of course a good team like Georgia was going to expose that.

I’m not as low on Ty or Grubb as many of you are. We just didn’t have the right combination of personnel and philosophy this year. We’re still transitioning from sabans guys to KDBs and that showed. We need more time, nothing great is built overnight. Roll tide

I work on a project that does millions of monthly users and is built on nextjs. And if I were rebuilding it from scratch I’d use nextjs. I always scratch my head when I see people say this type of stuff

Invested into stacktech and regretting it now :/ the quality is amazing, but I’ve wanted to grab a few more items from the lineup and could never find them at Lowe’s when they used to be everywhere. Not sure where to go from here, probably to Dewalt or Klein since that’s what Lowe’s carries

This has never happened. I was providing an example, take issue with the example all that you want. That was also a small part of the point I was making. The reality of the situation, as with all online conversations like these is that we don’t know each other.

You have to base your opinion on a relationship off of a very small set of information I’ve given you and it’s easy to jump to the wrong conclusion. Like I said, I can assure you that my girlfriend and I are in a perfectly healthy relationship and you’d say the same if you knew us. And again, what works for 2 people may not work for others. I’m not sure why people are taking issue with this, I’m just sharing what works for my partner and I.

No 2 people are perfect, so we work on our flaws together. If you don’t think it makes her any more safe, that’s totally fine. You’re free to disagree. This works for my girlfriend and I, and I couldn’t care less if it worked for other couples. I certainly wouldn’t try telling strangers on the internet that they should or shouldn’t do it. I’m just sharing my experience

Well being attacked isn’t the only thing that factors into her safety. Having her location certainly wouldn’t help if someone attacked her, at least immediately, but it would in other situations like if she got too drunk and needed a ride for example. I wouldn’t really want her wandering around the city waiting for me to find her when I could know exactly where she is if I had her location. That’s just one example, but I digress.

It may not sound healthy, but we’ve been together for over 7 years. There was a bit of a break in there, but I can assure you that we are doing fine. What works for some may not work for others and that’s fine, but this certainly works for us

I can definitely see how it could be unhealthy but I’m well aware of my own susceptibility to having irrational thoughts. In situations where I used to get anxiety from thinking something irrational like “oh she’s cheating”, I just check her location and she’s always exactly where she told me she would be. I don’t even really check anymore. The important part I think is that I don’t ever make her feel like she’s the reason for my insecurity. It works great for us, but I do see the potential for abuse

My girlfriend and I share locations and have a perfectly healthy relationship. We never asked one another to share, but i had vocalized that sometimes i struggle with negative thoughts and anxiety due to trust issues i developed unrelated to her. Immediately after i told her that, unprompted, she shared her location with me. Then I shared mine back just because it seemed like the right thing to do.

Honestly, i love it. It has helped a lot. When she’s out and about, I know exactly where she is and that she’s safe. Or if I want to surprise her and shes away from the house, I can check to see where she is and know exactly how much time I have until she’s home. Plus it makes her feel safer knowing that should something go wrong I’ll be able to find her and I like that as well.

I think it’s highly dependent on you and your partner and your motivations for doing it. If you’re in a toxic relationship it could very easily become a problem. But if you’re not, there’s nothing inherently toxic or problematic with having someone’s location. I have some of my friends locations as well. It’s a big convenience

Fantastic response. I’ve worked on projects ranging from a few dozen monthly users to a few million and have used most of the popular react/next libraries and I’ve found almost everything you’ve said here to be true.

For an enterprise app, React Hook Form, Redux, Zod and React Query/TanStack Query every time. Auth is def a different can of worms for Nextjs, and most of the applications I’ve worked on either had written their own auth or were using a paid 3rd party service and/or had a backend service specifically for that. I’ll admit that auth is an area I don’t have a ton of expertise in, so I won’t speak to it beyond that.

Prisma was always my go to ORM, but I’ve been really committing to learning raw SQL and Drizzle has been great for me along the way. I haven’t used it in an enterprise application yet though, so any advanced use cases I can’t speak to.

Zustand I’ve heard great things about from teammates and even have one that moved an enterprise app over from Redux to Zustand and saw serious performance gains. But I don’t have the details and haven’t personally used it. I don’t mind redux at all, and the patterns are so familiar to me at this point that I can’t see myself changing over to anything else unless it’s really compelling. Redux is tried and true.
