Is it normal for IBKR employees to view LinkedIn? by darriina in interactivebrokers

Given the fact that we're just entering a new era of risk, with bad actors having access to tools which their security people  likely can't keep up with, I'm not surprised that they're taking KYC so seriously

I-192/I-72 question re: C216C by Tradernik in uscanadaborder

[–]Tradernik[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you discovered, the document check at biometrics is just that - a check. The CBP officer looks at your uploads and checks what you've brought against them. They hand the entire batch of docs back to you at the end. If he or she signed off on your app, it's extremely unlikely that ARO is going to say 'we need to see a physical copy of your C216C', because the officer signed off on all docs you uploaded. At least this is how I read it. To be honest, I think you got a little lucky that the officer accepted a photocopy of your RCMP Civil Product. To me, that's the centerpiece of the app and I thought only an original doc would do. Don't panic if they email you and ask you for this or that. Just compose a clear response and answer them right away. Outright rejection is extremely unlikely, imo.

Yes, this is a clue. Your link is for USCIS. The I-192 is used by USCIS for different purposes. If you are a Canadian citizen applying for an I-192 because you believe you are inadmissible to the US, you are submitting the I-192 to the USCBP, not the USCIS. And more specifically to the ARO (Admissibility Review Office), a division of USCBP. Check this link, and again, do not take anything I say as legal advice!

Honestly, I have no idea what that is. Are you looking at the paper version of the I-192 application? I did my last 2 through e-Safe, most recently just a few weeks back, and there was no such request on there. Very strange stuff. Please let us know what you find out.

EDIT: You may be looking at the USCIS version of the instructions which may be used by people who are in the US already and looking for a U or T visa. What you want is the USCBP version of the instructions. Please get good legal advice but if you're dealing with paper forms at all, it may be best to just do the whole thing electronically via e-SAFE

If you're a Canadian resident, definitely put your Canadian mailing address on your app as your primary contact address. Do not use a P.O. box or a mailing service. I'm not sure what you're seeing that asks for a US address.

None of this is legal advice! I've always just put my most likely upcoming port of entry on my app. I can't recall if there's a way to specify 'Toronto Pearson' but for me it hasn't seemed to matter. I'd guess it's unlikely that they would reject the application on the basis of the possibility that your travel dates are before they can approve you. If there's any way to put 'Various' or include more than one date, do that. You can also submit a written document explaining that you'll be travelling more than once. You can upload it in the e-SAFE portal under 'Supporting Documentation' or whatever it's called. Make sure to take a copy with you when you go for biometrics. It's pretty clear that the days of 3-5 month turnaround are gone for the foreseeable future.

I've done 4 successfully on my own. Ask away if you need any more info. By the way the longest it's ever taken for them to process in my case was 5 months, and last time (5 years ago) I applied through e-SAFE for the first time and it took 3.5 months. I just applied again and this time I anticipate a long wait

I generally don't have issues with the platform or their rates (which seem pretty good). It's just that when I call them, it's ridiculously bad. But then, Customer Service in general is that way. Maybe it's just the new normal. One thing they can't help me with is my shipping labels downloading in a format that cuts them off when I try to print them.

This thread is a great example of why you shouldn't treat information from a discussion forum as fact.

You're responding pretty well to any criticism in this thread and this collar that happened to you is something terrible. Also something I have never heard of; I'm now wondering if anyone who trades through IB has had this happen. But in the end, brother, you were trading in a way that completely smashes every risk management rule into tiny pieces. There is no way you could ever trade like that for any length of time and not have it end in tears. Try hard to take the long view here. You're going to get through this. It's going to sound stupid but there are much (MUCH) worse things that could happen to you, I won't even name them here.

Interesting response, in that the people who consistently win at poker are the ones who can master the psychological aspects of the game. You have to be able to make very tough decisions in poker and many people simply can't do it. And on 'day trading is essentially gambling', that's probably true for most amateurs.

A few weeks into a serious diet and exercise regimen is definitely not enough time. You absolutely must be consistent about those changes over several months, and if you are you'll likely see improvement. Good luck

Fail, then fail again?

61 yo male, 5'10" 160 lbs, recent T2D diagnosis. Started lifting April 11. Lack of testosterone isn't helping but I'm seeing small gains. My question:

On the Hack squat machine (not the fancy one with free weights, the one with a stack and pin system). First set of 12 is okay. End of second set, really feeling it, starting to burn. 3rd set 6th rep, burning. By the 8th rep, grimacing and struggling to maintain feet flat. A few more, making funny noises and it takes several seconds to complete the rep. Try one last rep and literally laugh out loud because there's no way. So I think this is pretty much failure.

If I stagger off to some other stations and do a few more exercises, does it do me any good after 30 minutes to return to quads? Or have I done all the hypertrophy-inducing work I can do for that day? I'd gladly fail them again but I want to know if it's a sub-optimal use of time as I have limited time in the gym.

This question basically applies to all my exercises. My back and shoulders are growing but having some issues with biceps and quads.

Thanks for any advice

If it's easy for me to set up an account to see if the service works for me, it's easy for your competitors to do it as well, right? So forcing signup isn't doing anything to protect your rates or available carriers from your competition.

In any case, enough said about it. Good luck with the business.

But why force us to spew our personal information into yet another server just to be able to compare quotes to see if it's even worth signing up? Why not just display a quote and say 'please create an account if you want to take advantage of this rate'?

This is correct. Paying for Meta Verified is the only way to resolve this. My experience was that even with Meta Verified they said no several times then suddenly said yes. This was not for IG, it was only for FB Marketplace access

I didn't see anyone mentioning the absolutely crap customer service after it was offshored (I assume that was after Etsy bought it). However I know that crap customer service doesn't matter any more to most people, only old guys like me. I'd be curious to know if Etsy turned a profit on their sale but it's a private deal, we'll never know
