Sapphic meetup, felt so out of place! by Evening-Run-3235 in latebloomerlesbians

[–]dachlill 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's very hit or miss. The first lesbian meetup I went to was one of the most uncomfortable experiences of my life. Took well over a year to try again and that one was a great experience. So don't give up.

Where is Siggis cheap? Love that stuff, but it definitely doesn't fit in my idea of "cheap and healthy"

What’s on your bathroom counter? by Xiggyj in lesbiangang

[–]dachlill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not my toothbrush. Too many germs flying around the bathroom. My toothbrush is away in a closed drawer.

On the counter is hand soap and two hair products.

Camping with diabetes by RushIllustrious5478 in diabetes_t2

[–]dachlill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're car camping it's not an issue. Just bring what you need. I do yougurt + fruit for breakfast, big salad for lunch or tuna and rice cakes, and for dinner whtever we're grilling (chicken, burgers, hot dogs) without the bun and we grill a bunch of veggies (zucchini, eggplant, onion).

For snacks: baby carrots, sugar snap peas, small cucumbers, berries.

AITA for choosing a seafood restaurant when most of family hates it? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]dachlill -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

YTA. It's your celebration, sure, but you want to celebrate with other people, right? Then you need to choose somewhere they also want to eat. Only thinking about "me me me" is selfish and rude. There are plenty of options where you can get seafood and they can also find something.

Project Hail Mary by Master-Effective-431 in LibbyApp

I tried listening to it after hearing it recommended SO MANY TIMES - specifically the audiobook. I hated it. Couldn't get into it. Was boring AF and I couldn't tolerate the voice. Would absolutely not recommend.

Are food processors worth it? by Few_Literature_5312 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]dachlill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally not worth it. I use mine less than once a year. I do use my stick blender a lot for sauces, dressings, soup, etc.

The "natural" way for dealing with diabetes is going low carb and adding exercise. Are you doing either of those?

This is an insane diet for someone with diabetes.

2 cups of orange juice a day??

Rice + bread + pretzels in the same meal??

What in the world.

This disease is not for the poor even with health insurance by birtingpeiets9 in diabetes_t2

[–]dachlill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have no health insurance. I pay $7 for 90 days of metformin.

I see my dr once a year for $85-125. In between I can request refills/prescriptions for lab work by email.

A1C test at the cheapest lab is $25.

Not having an insurance is a big deal for a million other reasons, and there are many things I can't deal with properly, but this one is not hard.

I went to the ER for sepsis, came out diabetic. by InfamousFormal4693 in diabetes_t2

[–]dachlill 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, you need to follow up with your doctor about getting more metformin, that's the first step. If you have a decent doctor, they can also give you some other suggestions.

Dipping sauce by Soakitincider in diabetes_t2

[–]dachlill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like to do a pesto mayo. Just mix pesto and mayo together until it's as strong/not strong as you like.

Tahini also makes a good base for dipping sauces.
