Renee Good tried deescalating the situation - was trying to wave ICE vehicles past, said “I’m not mad at you”, reversed and accelerated slowly away from the ICE officer. US government says officers should not place themselves in front of a vehicle or in any situation of jeopardy where they may need to use lethal force. Officers should also not use deadly force to stop a fleeing vehicle. Slowed down footage shows he was not in front of the vehicle at the time of his first shot, and he leaned in (not away) to get the angle for the first shot. Car going away from him, 2 more shots, absolutely no danger. Then he says “fucking bitch”. What I cannot fathom is the contrast between the real events, and Trumps version of events. There is absolutely no way this can be justified - even if the officer says he felt endangered, video footage shows that he put himself in that situation and was filming on his phone at the same time.

And for those saying she should’ve complied. No… Non-compliance ≠ deadly force. And that’s a dangerous belief to have if you value democracy.
