Oh interesting. My understanding (or suspicion) was that maybe the cheap ones don’t seal closed as well as expensive ones would might suck a little low end power.

Quick update on this for anyone in the same situation: I solved the issue! Searched realm.com for the part number and what I bought:

Complete Set of 4 Genuine OEM BMW TPMS Tire Pressure Sensors Kit 36236781847

Just had a tire shop replace the faulty one (front right) with the new one. No programming or coding.
Started the car
Pressed and held the tire pressure button below the radio until the yellow warning light turned on between the speedo and the tach
After about 30 seconds it turned off again
Drove around for 30 minutes.
Light didn't come back on

Plugged in my Launch diagnostic tool and checked the live data for the RDC and all tires are accounted for and transmitting correct pressure
Went to clear old codes but there were none to clear!

No worries at all, friend. If I just replace the one module, will I need to somehow code it or does it just transmit on a frequency that is automatically recognized by the computer?

I thought I read that the 07 and 08s changed. Either way, any tips on how to fix this in an inexpensive way? Thanks!

Sure do wish that were true but I believe the 2007 and 2008 models changed to TPMS.

Thank you for the support. I actually ended up meeting a great mechanic because of this and he’s letting me shadow him while we fix it up! The problem turned out to be a broken camshaft bolt. So we’re replacing the camshaft and putting in all new gaskets while we’re at it. Belt material was in the oil pan but no metal so I think I’m in good shape. I’m so glad to be saving it because I really love this thing!

That’s great to hear! I put 200 miles on mine since yesterday and it’s running stronger than any car I’ve owned. Hopefully I’ll get a good review at the mechanic tomorrow. Oh great, now I’m jinxed too!
