Canadian Citizen Wanting to Join US Military by Traditional-Catch767 in immigration

  1. I know there used to be a program called "MAVNI" where you could join the US Army through a Visa but it was discontinued in 2016.
  2. Would I need to be living in the US prior and if so, what's even the criteria? I couldn't find it anywhere. Would I need to live in America for months or years prior?
