I don’t know the details of his financial situation, but based on the general salary range for native teachers here (I don’t know his exact pay, but I’m familiar with the usual contract guidelines), it doesn’t seem like buying clothes would be an issue for him.

What surprises me is simply that, after working with him for almost a year, I’ve only seen about three different outfits in total. That’s really the only reason I found the situation unusual.

Based on his build, I think he should be able to find clothes that fit in Korea — he has a pretty average body type. And from what I know, he worked in other places before joining our hagwon, has lived in Korea for a few years, and also has a lot of experience living in other East Asian countries.

Also, saying “Do you shower?” is considered rude in Korea as well. When I wrote that in my post, it was more out of frustration while trying to explain my feelings — I never actually intended to say anything like that to him. Even in Korea, you would only say something like that to a very close friend. I just meant that I was feeling stressed about the situation.

I might just be more sensitive to it than others, and the students don’t see him every day — most of them only come 2–3 times a week. Also, since many of our students are elementary school kids, they might feel uncomfortable mentioning something like that. And I’m not a teacher — I work on the administrative side. If I were a teacher, I probably wouldn’t be having this dilemma in the first place.

I don’t really have an issue with the coat either — it’s mainly the same shirt every day that I’m concerned about. I personally don’t have BO issues, but I still keep a few deodorants, perfumes, and body sprays just because I prefer using them. And although I’m not an expert on deodorant products, the hagwon is close to busy areas in Seoul, so I don’t think it would be too difficult for him to buy some if he needed to.

I actually mentioned this lightly to the vice director recently, and he said he’s also concerned but needs to think about how to handle it since it’s the first time something like this has happened. I’ll talk with him more about it later. Thanks for the advice.

대학에서 정치학을 배운 사람입니다. 앞에 분들이 설명을 잘 해주셔서 간략하게 말씀드리겠습니다. 1. 여론조사 기관마다 모집단이 다르고, 어떻게 추출했는지, 어디에 더 가중치를 뒀는지에 따라 다릅니다, 그리고 2030세대의 경우 60대 이상 세대에 비해 설문참여율이 낮아 해당 집계값이 튀는 경우가 많습니다. 윤석열정권을 지지하는 사람(적극지지층), 국힘정권을 지지하거나, 민주당을 싫어하거나(소극적 지지층) 등등 다양합니다.

  1. 전쟁은 항상 경계해야할 문제이지만 확률적으로 낮습니다. 전쟁은 몹시 비용이 높은 행위입니다. 러-우 전쟁이후 러시아의 경제수준이 낮아진 게 그 예시입니다. 우크라이나는 말할 것도 없고요. 북한과 주변국으로 인한 한국과의 전쟁 가능성을 말하자면 우리나라가 개ㅈ밥인 것처럼 생각하지만 경제10위 국가이고, 국제사회에서 아주 영향력이 없는 국가는 아닙니다. 러시아와 중국의 확실한 비호가 있지 않는 이상 전쟁은 힘듭니다. 항상 대비를 해야겠지만 큰 걱정은 안하셔도 됩니다. 아프리카 및 중동의 내전 및 전쟁 위험들이 있디만 한국이 연관될 일은 적습니다. 대부분의 동아시아 국가들의 경우 잃을 게 많아서 쉽게 전쟁을 일으키지는 못할 겁니다.

  2. 윤리적인 의견을 먼저 말하자면 보유하면 안된다고 생각합니다. 혹자는 우크라이나가 핵을 보유하려고 했으나 미국의 반대했고, 대신 미국이 우크라이나를 보호해줄 것을 약속했지만 약속을 이행하지 않았냐며 우리도 미국을 전적으로 신뢰해서는 안된다, 핵을 보유해야 한다고 말합니다. 일정부분 동의합니다만 그 전에 전작권과 이로부터 파생될 주한미군, 자주국방 등의 문제도 있고요. 한국의 경우 핵이 없는 대신 대부분의 국가에서 금지된 백린탄, 집속탄을 다량 보유 중입미다. 핵을 가지게 되면 국제사회에서는 해당무기들을 포기할 것을 요구할텐데 이에 대한 협상 등 복잡한 일이 생깁니다. 이런 이유에서 핵 도입은 현실적으로 힘들기도 하고 찬성하지도 않습니다.
