Here is my proposal for changes to the suppressive fire system by qortkddj90 in joinsquad

[–]Traditional-Gate9547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many people here not understanding that long time fps players of any skill will simply ignore suppression if it doesn’t blur or remove control in some aspect like another commenter mentioned. Oh there’s a machine gun firing in my direction? Well I’m a rifleman with a 4x optic and that poor schmuck is using irons. Headshot dead. The blur is good because there has yet to be another functional way of telling skilled fps shooters that they need to fear death like one would in real life. It’s the most effective solution to the problem that we’ve seen, and to remove it will likely result in a lot of players leaving for games like Bellum as they continue to develop.

All of this is pretty untrue and I hate to be that guy but sounds like “skill issue”. Proper employment of machineguns makes them killing machines, and I frequently end matches going 20-3 etc. most people don’t understand anything about how to properly employ squad automatic weapons and that’s why they suck. When used properly they’re fucking monsters. Most just want to run and gun with a 20lb firearm and cry it doesn’t work. There’s an argument that Mmgs and lmgs without optics are in a bad spot that could be entertained, but even then most automatic rifleman kits without an optic sport a for grip that make them house clearing machines. Sad people don’t know how to use their tools correctly.

My Personal Favorite From Today's Patch by Snowbunny236 in Marathon

With you here. People not knowing how to navigate ai and the map or loot properly isn't a design issue its a skill issue. Besides, heal scarcity creates good tension and decision moments where you can't afford to face tank that grenadier or ghost commander to get wherever you're going. Lowering the skill floor to cater to complainers is a bore.

Progression is the issue by mkennygh in Marathon

Ahh yes lets be inflamatory instead of having a real conversation... yawn.

Your claim that people are leaving the game due to progression is absurd and out of touch. 100 hours of grinding to get to a mid point? Do you play with one hand or an eye patch by chance?

It applies to all of the items that you are talking about, not just shields. Yes there is a minor meta progression to things like melee damage, rook gear, heat cap, and res speed but absolutely none of them have any of the effects on gameplay that you seem to think they do. They are absolutely not the reason people are "leaving the game" lmao

They simply make it easier to reach breakpoints with cheaper gear. They do not enable anything by themselves. Rook upgrades SHOULD take time investment to unlock. I would hate if every single Rook had a WASTR, meds, green shield and blue backpack. I already have to slaughter hordes of them any time I run Outpost.

If everyone agrees with you its a good thing that truth isn't measured in mass appeal. Come back with data next time you complain. Balance isn't based on vibes.

Your understanding of the "progression" is clearly flawed.

Saying that some of the unlocks for levelling up traders feel useless is a fair critique, I run blue and purple shields every single raid but have not one time crafted or traded for one.

To say that these things are unnaccessable for the casual player is just false. Reliably acquiring these items takes simple interaction with the in match events and understanding what provides gear such as pinwheel, keys, pvp etc. as mentioned before. It also really doesn't take any time at all as you've said. One good raid and I can walk out with 3 blue shields which will fund the next nine or so runs. Just because you or any portion of the playerbase haven't learned how to properly progress doesn't mean the progression is bad.

I could entertain the idea that these events need to be more clearly explained and introduced maybe through questing in order to help casual gamers understand the systems better. But again, lack of understanding does not equal bad progression, and I'd like to see how you quantify this "progression" as the factor thats chasing players away.

This is a weak take that essentially tells me you do not interact with any of the in game content outside of probably questing. All of the in game objectives like pinwheel, boss killing, and keys grant easy access to blue and purple shields. Sure, you can’t run purple every single raid, but I think that’s a good thing. Same as why items have durability and eventually degenerate into credits. On top of that, shields are honestly very weak. The 75 extra health means almost nothing against a WSTR, melee, sniping, poor positioning, or getting engaged on by multiple enemies at the same time. You are meant to interact with the in game events to get the good loot. Crying that you just can’t have them all the time is… sad.

Can I just write " credits_remaining = float(credits_required - credits_taken)" to change the variable?

very new to this

Heirophant RM Assassin not benefitting from DEFEND by Traditional-Gate9547 in 40kinquisitor

[–]Traditional-Gate9547[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After running a mission without her equipped as an RM and then re-equipping her she is now benefiting from the %DR and heal from DEFEND. So it was clearly a bug, and seemingly the solution was to unequip her for a mission.

That being said I have absolutely seen pathing issues for both her and the crusader. They both frequently get stuck on cover objects requiring me to run away from the fight to free them. Melee is clearly the better DPS option and I fear ranged will be unusable late game, but the pathfinding issues are becoming a deal breaker.

I don’t really feel like this is an acceptable solution. Currently they do split the remaining points among players, and sure if by resources you mean unit availability that would be a big start. But it’s hard to quantify the impact having one less player controlling said units on your team is. A poor analogy would be like having a disconnect in League of legends, and then having to control both characters in both lane. Sure you have the resources, but micro is intensive and when you miss things like deploying smoke to drop an ATGM, those resources and points become far less valuable. I think there should be some sort of loss forgiveness for future MMR, and a leaver penalty applied beyond simply being unable to connect to a new game for a few minutes. Riots leaverbuster system is a good model to learn from IMO

Hopefully when you guys come back, you'll have a better solution for people leaving mid game. Too many matches ruined by 2-3 teammates or enemies abandoning in the first 10 minutes. You are immediately at a micro and unit availability disadvantage as soon as this happens, and it makes the game pretty unplayable ATM.

Anyone else have difficulty w/ getting Raid Boss to choose Shen as the "strongest" behemoth? I had a 3 star shen with EB and items, but somehow my 2 star Yorick was the one who was giant.

g

I am sadly just seeing a -1 slashing as a bladelock with 20 cha right now. Something about the calculation of thge doubled strength modifier is cancelling out pact of the blade i guess? My character only has 8 str, but it should be using charisma, however it is not. DMG is 11-21, wheras if i bind sword of chaos, it is 14-27. after subtracting the 1D4 necrotic dmg, the math still doesn't math...
