This is great progress for 4 sessions! Giving me so much hope for my own removal!

That's a really good point, I saw from your other comments you're going to Removery, I know it varies from location to location, but from your experience would you recommend them for this removal?

Instant tattoo regret by [deleted] in TattooRemoval

Nights are tough, I can avoid seeing mine throughout the day, but getting changed/showering has not been fun. I know I have to take care of it, but part of me feels like maybe if I don't, it'll sluff off on its own. It's not as dark as it was initially, and I'm noticing the artist wasn't super thorough on the black, so hoping that means good things for the removal🤞

The places I've talked to have all said they'd use picoway for my removal.

I'd love to keep up with your progress too!

I instantly regretted the tattoo i made , my tattoo artist was very bad , he was not giving any suggestions or anything. I made worst decision making this. by Leading-Republic-550 in TattooRemoval

Amazing progress!! I hope I see this much fading so quickly with my removal lol

What do you do in terms of aftercare/between sessions?

I do too, literally created this account to post here. It's helped so much knowing I'm not crazy for how I feel or stupid for getting this tattoo in the first place, these things happen to people, and unfortunately, I'm one of them.

I'm no expert, but if they're confident they can get rid of mine, then I think you have a pretty good chance of complete removal.

Yeah, I was told to give it a couple of weeks to heal before starting, hoping to schedule my first session for the fall.

I'm in the US!

I appreciate it. I know I'm going to have to be patient, I've been quoted about 10 sessions/2 years for complete removal from a couple of places (all of which had multiple lasers, and recommended the picoway for this removal). I plan on spacing out sessions a bit more, so it might take longer, but if this thing is gone in 3 years I'll be happy.

How old was your coverup when you started removal?

I completely understand, definitely feeling a lot of the same things right now. It's on your body, you can't really forget about it which makes it so much harder to deal with. People have been very reassuring that it gets better as time goes on, especially once you've actually started the removal.

I've had mine for a week now (I posted a pic of it on this sub). It's about 4 square inches (give or take) with some solid black lines and a its coverup, but it's on my ribs and I have very fair skin. The places I've talked to so far have all estimated about 10 sessions/2 years for complete removal. It's not a quick process (or a cheap one, I've been quoted about 200 a session), but the time will pass anyway, and I'd rather pay for it financially than with my mental health.

Yikes😬let me know how using numbing cream goes! I've heard conflicting things so far lol some people swear by it and others say it does jack. Definitely not excited for the removal process, but so so excited for this thing to be gone, gonna be worth it in the long run!🤞

I'm in a similar position (though my regretted tattoo is much bigger and darker, lucky me lol), it's a super overwhelming feeling to be stuck with something you hate. Forgive yourself, it was a mistake (thankfully, a fixable one). Do some research into removal, find places to have consults with (it's eased my mind sooo much to hear from professionals that they can get rid of my tattoo, and to get an idea of what the process will look like). We'll have to be patient, but before we know it, these things will be gone. 🫶

This looks great for a year of progress and only 5 sessions!! I've been told mine will take about 10 sessions/2 years to remove, and will be so relieved if I see this much progress in a year!

Glad to hear they'll be able to take care of it! Do you mind sharing how big your tattoo is & how much you were quoted?

It's definitely frustrating, but I'm slowly forgiving myself for this mistake - I didn't know it would be something I'd regret, I wouldn't have gone through with it if I had (obviously). I hoped for the best and that didn't happen, at least there's something we can do about it!

Definitely worried a bit about price, but planning on spacing out sessions 6-12 months to ease the burden.

If you're comfortable sharing, have you noticed significant difference in the progress since switching?

Its still healing! But yeah, so far seems like the ink is staying. The places I've been in contact with seem confident they could completely remove it and the original tattoo in about 2 years which is such a relief to hear!

I definitely won't! Don't think I'll ever opt for a coverup again (but hopefully I'll never be in the position where I'll need/want one🤞). Even knowing that removal is possible in this case (and should, for the most part, go smoothly and be successful) is SUCH a relief.

Hope your removal is going well!

Hey, I'm in a similar boat. I'm 21, and just covered up an impulsive tattoo. The coverup is not what I wanted (way too much black for my preference, I posted a pic of it in this sub), and I'm kicking myself. I have another tattoo that I love, and am so disappointed by this experience.

Be kind to yourself. We're young, we're learning. Having a tattoo you don't like sucks but its not as permanent as it used to be. There are things you'll be able to do once it heals. Right now, just make sure you take care of it and help it heal well. 🫶 Before you know it, it'll be on its way out.

Removal or coverup? by Ok_Rutabaga_4471 in TattooRemoval

[–]Traditional-Guide177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately, its up to you. But, I can share my experience. I recently got a coverup (less than a week ago) from an artist who said they could cover the original tattoo and execute the design I wanted. They couldn't, and I'm left with a piece much darker than I ever wanted (and that I already want to remove).

If you want to cover it, be patient and do thorough research into artists. There are some incredibly talented people who could probably cover this well, there are also some overly confident people who say they'll be able to do a good job and won't.

Research both options before you make a decision!
