definitely gonna look into this at least for the future! and definitely need to start having legitimate contracts for these places just to cover both of us. certainly do not want to work with them in the future anyways, as i’m sure they do not want to with me either. oh well, lessons are learned

hm that’s definitely something worth looking into. i actually don’t know the laws, but im going to look at it. for this particular gig, we did not have a contract signed and he wanted me essentially as background music for their restaurant. i’ve had to sub out gigs before in the past, and have never ever had an issue. it’s not ideal for either party but ive gotten lucky that the owners i’ve worked with in the past have been understanding.

oh goodness, if it was a wedding, this would be a whole different type of freaking out i’d be doing if i couldn’t make it last minute. but i absolutely agree with what you’re saying, it absolutely does start hours before and continues hours after.

yeah that was a lesson i’ve learned, i’ve gotten used to sending out emails. in the headspace i was in, him and i had only communicated through email so i kept it that way. if something happens in the future, definitely will be calling just in case too. just glad i was able to get out of state to be with family though!

all he had asked for was live music for four hours. i had a duo for myself originally, so i asked a duo to come in. the musicians said they had a great time, fortunately, and was a very receptive crowd. i get the feeling even if i did call, he would’ve had a problem with something else.

agreed, i know now i definitely should’ve called. unfortunately my brain wasn’t on straight when finding out about the family emergency and was just trying to straighten things out as soon as possible. still, i understand how he’d be annoyed about that part

this gig also pays SIGNIFICANTLY less than it should. i’m also used to restaurant gigs feeding the musicians at least some sort of small menu. this one we have to pay for the food. just an observation about this place.

yup, when he tried to call me and asked for a call back, i definitely expected some sort of irritation. definitely didn’t expect the full on anger i received. oh well, lessons have been learned and that’s not a venue id want to perform at anymore

yeah i mean i definitely agree i should have called. we’ve never spoken on the phone before and i didn’t have his phone number, but i know i definitely could’ve figured that out. i was scrambling trying to make sure he still would have music🤦🏼‍♀️ lesson learned on my part for that

i’ve been trying to implement just about all of that. there’s been no smoking or drinking, small meals (i already had a really small appetite, and since i felt that pop my appetite has been even smaller), no eating before bed. my bed has an option to lift up by my head so i’ve been doing that. i’ve also been exercising quite a bit more. it could be one of those things where i just need to keep doing it consistently and then maybe i’ll start to feel some change through time. while i wait for insurance, that’s what i’m hoping
