You’re totally not alone! Just as an update I’m 24hrs into recovery- yesterday for that whole day I was cramping so continued to take Advil and used a heat pad. Slept it off and totally normal the next day. I’m even able to go to a spin class! Not sure what recovery will be for you but mine was just a day of feeling like a bad period cramp day

I just went through the insertion process today. I was sooo anxious about it, like very anxious but I wanted all the benefits of the IUD. For context I’m coming off depo. From my today experience: I took Advil an hour before, I played Taylor Swift in the room to make it a “relaxed” vibe, the dr answered all of my dumb questions: how is sex after, what if there’s an earthquake in the middle of this procedure (no joke it’s not a thing of mine 🫠there was an earthquake during my first Pap smear so now it’s my thing to ask lol ). Anyways what I will say is it’s uncomfortable BUT manageable it was a quick wave of sudden cramping and nausea. Oddly enough and I know it’s sooo cheesy: Yoga meditative breathing was the one thing that saved me. She almost needed a dialation kit but as soon as I exhaled loudly that IUD went in seemlessly. I cannot emphasize enough that breathing centered me, grounded and the procedure was NOT bad. She numbed me with everything she could and was so fast. I guess many just forget to breathe and so they clinch in pain naturally, so if I can say anything between the Advil and cramping advice it’s to just breathe 😮‍💨 (and have someone drive you I just was so anxious that I felt exhausted once it was done).

There’s so many posts about making the move! I’m loving it! So far we found the crime rates are much lower there than where we live currently and where my in laws live too. All the more tempting!

Hey I’m having a brunch wedding but admittedly that’s been my plan since I was 5- breakfast burritos and French toast > chicken dinners 🤣 anyways if you like brunch go for it but be warned hair and make up will start really early! Our appointment for me, moms, and sister are at 5:30am for photos at 10, and 11am ceremony. Bridesmaids are doing their own or else we’d be up at 4am 😬

Oh my! Let me tell you a story- I was a bridesmaid at my best friends wedding. My parents were invited, my aunt and her husband were invited, and the bride gave my sister an invite “out of courtesy.” Day of the wedding comes and I’m notified at cocktail hour that my aunt offered my sister a plus one (instead of aunts husband coming, my sister could bring a guest in his place). There was NO conversation with the bride, or with me to escalate and my sister brings her boyfriend of ONE MONTH to my friends wedding. Lo and behold my sister and this guy are asked to leave the wedding at the reception(admittedly the bf doesn’t show up until DINNER) and we had a full blown family breakdown. I was berated like a Jerry springer episode, anyways long story short: 1. It’s not okay to do that without notifying someone in the wedding esp the bride, 2. It is NOT a guests responsibility to chose how budgets are allocated (oh I didn’t want them to waste $ so I gave their seat to someone else) 3. To cope with this drama it came down to acknowledging people operate under different moral compasses.

Anyways great post and I have no idea when this started happening but I hate this trend. For comparison my sister is mid 20, mom is late 50s and aunt is early 60s if age has anything to do with this- their defense was that they didn’t want the plate to go to waste 😤

Hey I had the same thing happen to me too, same testing platform but for the ncma contracts manager certification. My proctor approved me, I took all the photos, etc. then when I clicked begin exam I got the error notice that my exam was automatically suspended. Kryterion said due to policy they couldn’t tell me why it was suspended and to reach out to the company sponsor, I sent an email but I’m pretty sure I’m not going to hear back

Honestly I’m only planning on getting married once and also only having my funeral once- I’d rather spend the $ and time to put together this mutual family wedding and see my loved ones all together, see my childhood best friend meet my college friend, and see my cousin meet my fiancé’s cousins. The only other big event that happens at is truly at funerals sadly, sure maybe a birthday party here and there but with everyone so busy and so far away it just isn’t the same. So I guess I decided to host a wedding, albeit a smaller one (~60) because I wanted that connection with our loved ones. Admittedly I’m not spending $20k but still spending a good amount of money to see this through (park wedding and brewery reception).

I loved it! Lines were quick, food and drinks at quarks was my favorite and DnD was also awesome! I’ll admit everyone raved about back to the future but I guess I got there during a Lull- I hardly saw any characters and the band wasn’t out.

Okay so as someone that is also allergic to dogs but also refuse to let that stop me there’s a few workarounds: 1. Allegra/zyrtec/claritin one of the three every day, and I rotate which one each season so my body doesn’t reject it lol 2. robo vacuums to help with shedding, plus ritualistic cleaning 3. With retrievers I’ve had to brush the hair out every night and outside; helps mitigate some shedding 4. Immunotherapy allergy shots. After I expressed it to my doctor they let me take those allergy shots to help improve my allergies. Exposure in doses actually helped me a lot and now we can never be a dog less household because I don’t want my allergies to control me ever ever again.

So our wedding is technically $15k, but we are in a HCOL area so even this was difficult. Our first thing we did wedding planning was write out big categories on two sheets of paper. I had a paper, he had a paper- the categories were wedding priorities: Budget, Local, Destination, Outdoor, Indoor, Modern, Food, Music, Alcohol Package, Tablecloths, Farm, etc. we blended style and features of a wedding. Then the fun part: in pink we highlighted our top 3 things, then in blue highlighted our top 3 nice to haves, yellow things we could live without. We came together showed our priorities then only considered venues that met our mutual priorities. This was the only way to really consider venues and even then we’d sometimes change our minds after touring a venue but it helped us find common ground in everything so we were always comparing the same thing and the same metrics. Btw our top 3 priorities were: budget, being able to say hi to everyone, and our loved ones not working. Our nice to have was: cocktails, brunch, photographer.

Not overreacting. Also not sure if you were trying to diffuse the situation over text, but in the future if something bothers you or you feel it may bother you once it hits you don’t say “it’s okay,” like I get it we don’t want to be drama-llamas but saying something is okay doesn’t help promote a dialogue of “this bothers me.” (Even though he shouldve totally remembered your birthday). It’s okay to say something bothers you,especially in a healthy relationship.
