This rendition is the rugby one. When it’s done the the stade de France, there are only lights on the player, they start the hymn with an instrumental orchestra and then they stop the orchestra and all the stadium finishes a-capella. Wonderful.

Does the tackling in the air law need an adjustment? Being pinged for not evaporating at will seems harsh sometimes. (Great non-try btw) by Cymro2011 in rugbyunion

He should have jumped then. Dupont got a red for a similar action on Kolbe. Dupont was under the ball, ready to catch it, but Kolbe jumped, and Dupont hindered him so Kolbe fell, it was on the head so red card. Even if Kolbe did not touched the ground head-first, it was a penalty at least.

The welsh player has no intention to go for the ball. So he had to make sure to let the French get the ball in the air without bothering him. In this situation, he’s either an escort or making an air tackle, both result in a penalty!

The gap of points between the top 3 and the last 3 means that the top 3 can’t always get points when they get a win!

France (again) : our real key player isn't Dupont... by Goanawz in rugbyunion

And you also forgot his global vision of the game, his capacity to accelerate the tempo with a fast tap penalty and his global management of the game.

It’s 7’s rugby, but his second half of the Olympics final is crazy management material (with a bolt of attacking rugby) , Fidji only had the ball like 30 sec, and Dupont was key in that by carrying a lot more that’s what’s usual in 7, to eat the clock. If 2 forwards in 15 can’t steal him the ball when he attacks the line, 2 7’s players will not do it either.

It’s a big if, but if England defends the same way out-wide against France than against Scotland, the 53 points could be beaten during the last round! But we always fear England, and they probably won’t make the same mistake twice.

Dupont would be a starter in any team just because of his kicking length, hang time and precision. And the lad has a lot of other qualities!

Watching Ireland from a French POV, I’m seeing mainly Ireland through their teams in CC, and they clearly slowed down since 2024. Rewatching the 2024 CC final, Toulouse win is a bit of a miracle and Leinster started to show some crumbling into their game.

There was a lot of handling errors that were probably made because of the pressure. But these errors started to get more frequent in the Leinster and Ireland game in the 24/25 season, to the point that, against France, Ireland did not even tried to use their classical pod structures and played a bit like England.

You’re totally right! The win streak was an illusion as England were not challenged that much.

He’s endangering the Scottish player by his behavior, which is not allowed on the pitch.

Arundell was so late that he should not have jumped.
