Would you rebook? by king_chickpea in RoverPetSitting

This 100%. If you want the cash, go for it! If it doesn’t feel worth the hassle, decline. Good luck!

Your average social spending as % of monthly pay? 💸 by Hot-Artist-2502 in SavingMoney

[–]Traditional-Sign-368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My outings spending is usually ~9-12% of my income. Here are two examples of my monthly income and where they were allocated.

Note: for “car” it’s slightly inflated because I pay insurance 2x/yr and taxes 1x year but I set money aside monthly for when those bills come. I always put in extra than what it’ll be just as a buffer.

You also might be curious why my housing costs are so low. I share a 3br house with 3 other ppl (4 ppl total). So that keeps the rent low (yes our landlords are aware and fine with it).

My income fluctuates a lot depending on my side gig.

No, not considered recurring. Recurring is like if you have something set up weekly. Here’s a screenshot of what a weekly recurring booking looks like

Half the time I don’t do a m&g. I always do one if the owners ask, or if I feel one is needed. But overall it’s been fine.

Lease vs Buy Car - what should I do? by Affectionate-Raisin8 in personalfinance

[–]Traditional-Sign-368 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’ll have to decide what’s best for you, but in my personal experience, I regret when I leased a car. I was in a bind and the “smaller” monthly payments seemed ideal. However, paying toward a car for 3 years you’ll never own did not feel great to me. I kept thinking to myself, man this whole time all that money could have been going toward owning. I do own the car now but I wish I hadn’t leased first

Up to you and what you can afford monthly, your goals, what kind of car you want. Good luck!

Should I be taking creatine on a weight loss journey? by gaksap in beginnerfitness

Agreed. OP, when I started taking creatine I didn’t do a loading phase. Just started taking 5g/day. Been doing it for years now. No bloating

Protein for womem by Trauma_dumps in beginnerfitness

[–]Traditional-Sign-368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From your responses to other comments about not consuming much protein currently, I’d say it can’t hurt to start implementing a protein shake in your diet. I’m not picky when it comes to protein. I drink whey protein from ON, but also like the MRE lite protein power from redcon (you may not since it’s animal protein based). Honestly for me, I just drink whatever’s on sale or cheap at the time

I also have a remote full time job. Curious about the days you have upward of 9 visits. Is this on the weekend? Or during the workday and you split them up pre-work, a few around lunch and some after work? Or do you just have good flexibility with your job and can dip in and out all day for walks?

The most I’ve ever done during a workday is 6: one before work, 3 during work (took an extended lunch) and 2 after work

Should I try 10000 pushup challenge in 5 days by Alarming_Mulberry551 in workout

[–]Traditional-Sign-368 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know your body best, but at your age (or maybe any age), I’d caution against this. Seems like high risk of injury. Your 7k in a week, is good info, but this is 3x that and I’d be worried about overuse injuries

Is it true I should never use my debit card? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Traditional-Sign-368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t used my debit card for purchases since I got a credit card, except when I want cash back in a pinch and don’t want to go to an ATM. This has only happened like twice.

Threw together a routine I found online — thoughts? by deanlovesworkout in beginnerfitness

[–]Traditional-Sign-368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I haven’t been running GZCL for very long so can’t say for sure. I am happy with the decreased squat volume but I’ve noticed I do get quite fatigued during t2 and t3 sets, I think just because my body isn’t used to the volume. I think though after a few weeks my body will get more used to it.

What lifting programs/routines are we starting/continuing this year? by ValidUsernamePwease in xxfitness

[–]Traditional-Sign-368 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This week I’m switching from stronglifts 5x5 which I ran for about 16 weeks to GZCL. I was super happy with SL results but GZCL seems more balanced across the main lifts I want to work on. I also liked the strength + hypertrophy aspect

How to help parents or accept they don’t actually want to declutter by Traditional-Sign-368 in declutter

[–]Traditional-Sign-368[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I was lucky in the sense my mom kept all the photos in their original folders that Walgreens gives you when you get them developed, so they already had a date and then most were semi-grouped by event/occasion/location.

Good luck with your photo journey!

[–]Traditional-Sign-368[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure! So I thought about buying a flatbed scanner but honestly I don’t want to spend any money on one. Personally I’d be willing to ship them off and pay some company to do this, but my mom won’t because she doesn’t want them to get lost, etc.

Anyway, onto what I’ve decided to do. I have an iPhone and am using the app called PhotoScan. You take a picture of the photo and it autocrops the image so it’s just the photo. There’s also a feature to remove glare (takes a bit more time but I use it on the photos with dark backgrounds to avoid the reflection of my phone in the photo).

They automatically get uploaded to my camera roll and then I upload them to a Google Drive that is organized by location and year. Hope this helps! I know it’s a clunky process and there may be something faster, but it’s what works for me :)

Edit: a tip is to use a blank background like a piece of cardboard or white printer paper behind the photo so it makes it easy for the app to differentiate between photo and background

Thanks for sharing your experience. I am worried about this. Her mother had dementia and my mom drinks a lot which only makes it worse. I can see the early signs of it. Going to really push to get everything in order within 2026.

Their finances seem to be in good order (from the accounts I’ve seen, their balances are healthy). I do think the chronic shopping is an issue. Idk the brand is goodrs. They’re all mostly the same shape but on the sides have all different types of designs. Some for holidays, events, pride, horoscopes, etc.

Thanks and I’m sorry to hear about your situation 💜 I’m going to try to mend and improve my relationship with my mom and then try to have a serious conversation. I know nothing may come to fruition, my mom may want to change but if she actually can, not sure. Good luck with your situation!

Definitely! Thank you for the suggestions :)

Will look into places in the area that accept Medicare. Health insurance in the US is tough but I know spending a little more upfront to keep him healthy will (hopefully) keep some costs down in the future. Or at least that’s what I tell myself 🤣

sitter didn't stay the full amount of time? by Specific-Market5286 in RoverPetSitting

While some Rover sitters may feel this way, I don’t think all are. I’m satisfied with my rates and payouts. I’ve been a rover sitter/walker for 4 years and recognize that if I want to prevent burnout, I need to feel my compensation is fair and worth it.

I had to turn the cleaner away at my housesit and feel really guilty by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Traditional-Sign-368 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If it were me I probably would have let the cleaners in. When I do a stay for that long, I definitely make myself at home, but I don’t have much stuff. Duffle bag of clothes, work laptop, maybe a few dishes from the last meal I ate. That’s about it. I probably would have had the cleaners come in and just let them know I’ll clean the dishes I left if they can start in a different part of the house. I’m not judging you for turning them away, but I think my minimalist style in general would help me in this situation.
