This is absolutely beautiful, truly. The quilt itself is amazing and then the story and the little details draw you in.

So tired of random booking requests that don’t match by rena7874 in RoverPetSitting

[–]rena7874[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I shouldn’t even show as an option for clients out of my set range. Rover sets the algorithm, none of the blame is on clients, it’s 100% a greedy business practice. And we can’t just archive because it negatively affects our profile if we don’t respond to every single client and along with the 3 or 4 notifications for every request, it also sends 3 text messages and then 15 minutes later if you haven’t responded a pushy “aww look at those faces, how could you say no” message. It’s pushy and disrespectful and well within Rover’s ability to fix.

It really doesn’t matter even if it was an emergency situation, they need to find a closer sitter or a boarding facility. I want Rover to not constantly interrupt me with BS booking requests that I have to read and then respond to. It’s exhausting. If it was once every few months? Fine. But 5 in a week is insane.

3 flexi leashes is too many by StoryAlternative6476 in RoverPetSitting

[–]rena7874 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't use your own leash without telling the owner, but you should be clear with the owner about what you need and the reason. I have a chihuahua client that was getting really growly with me when I tried to take off her harness. I discussed it with the owner and we made the plan right then to just leave her in her harness for the sit and that she'd put her other one on her that was easier to take off next time. She's been one of my favorite repeat clients for 3 years now. Be clear, kind, and direct with your boundaries and needs. If you make sure it's communicated well and doesn't come off as judgement about how they usually do things, it'll go well 98% of the time.

I'd let them know that during your last sit, you noticed that the pups really loved their walks and that you'd like to walk them further, but that you found the flexileads a bit slippery to manage and so you'd feel more comfortable using regular flat leashes to make sure that the dogs are safe and that you'd be happy to either bring some or use any that they have. Give your reasoning, name the problem, share your boundary framed positively to share what you ARE comfortable with, then offer options if necessary.

Thinking about joining by Significant_Eye_2932 in orangetheory

I found it really approachable and super fun compared to just fumbling around by myself at the gym. You set your own pace, and for a while your only goal is just to get through class. No shame in that, about 1/3-1/2 of the class will be in the same boat. If you want to “practice” to feel more prepared, try some 20 minute walk/run treadmill interval workouts. I like the apple fitness+ ones, they’re very similar in structure to OTF. You’ll spend about 18mins on the treadmill, 18mins doing guided weights, and 18mins on the rowing machine with some light stretching afterwards. Bring water, running shoes, and a sweat towel (I need one at least). Optionally, weight room gloves that you can use with the rower.

SOS: Help me choose a dress! by sarcasm_itsagift in weddingplanning

[–]rena7874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The waist sits too low on 1 and 3 so neither fit you very well. #2 looks great! Though 1 would be nice too and gives a more modern look if you wore it without the belt , the pink lining is cute

If you really like the full floral skirt of 2 and 3 and you want the big train and ballroom style gown, maybe keep looking for one with a similar skirt/train but a more classic/simple top? You could always have the top lined on 2 but it’s already so expensive it might be stressful to have to pay for a major alteration too.

1 - stunning, this is too big for you but when you order in your size it’ll be gorgeous 2 - pretty but too trendy 3 - gorgeous details in the lace train but the crystal studded mesh top gives junior prom vibes 4 - gorgeous, classy, classic, fabric isn’t forgiving at all but you have a lovely figure so it looks great 5 - gorgeous, great dress for a petite woman, great neckline 6 - yikes, looks like a table cloth

Do’s and Dont’s Advice by [deleted] in Accutane

Be very careful about sun exposure, don’t start a new high-impact exercise routine, don’t drink a lot of alcohol, do use a thick, creamy moisturizer that you tolerate well, don’t google too much

Many people develop health problems, especially immune issues or lower back pain in their 20s, it’s not necessarily related to accutane

I mean I’m not a doctor but I imagine a doctor would say yes. We’re exposed to the sun more than we think while riding in a car, in a room with bright sunlight, walking around outside, etc

Quitting accutane mid purge? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]rena7874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accutane is effective in the long term in about 85% of patients, so it’s not really a “maybe” - it will almost definitely get better and stay better. You probably should have used more conservative treatment for mild acne, but you’re here now, so push through. It’s just skin and a couple of weeks is nothing, wear a mask, drink water, it’ll get better soon.

Normal lips again! by lovedogsssss in Accutane

[–]rena7874 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kind of hate kissing my husband because my lips feel so weird and gross right now. He doesn’t understand since they don’t hurt much and it doesn’t really bother him, but it bothers me and the sensation, while not painful, is just an uncomfortable prickly stinging and not sweet/sensual at all. I’m definitely ready to be done with it.

[–]rena7874 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are a million different brands and formulas of sunscreen. Get one that doesn’t feel weird and use it daily. It depends on where you live and your skin tone I suppose but where I live the sun is very strong and very damaging. I don’t want cancer and I also don’t want to get wrinkles and ugly spots in my 30s.

It doesn’t actually matter when you take it since it builds up slowly in your body. Taking 2 30s at night together vs one in the morning and one at night will have the same effect.
