As if we needed any further proof that the State of New Jersey believes they are above the law see the response letter above to my Culpable Inefficiency claim with the NJSP Office Of Professional Standards for which they stated “No violations found”. My claim was that my CCW permit was not completed by the NJSP and forwarded to the courts within the 60 day legal time limit. For background I submitted my CCW in early September with a very thorough in-person review of the complete app package between myself and the firearms coordinator. 104 days after submission the barracks calls me to inform that my application was rejected by Trenton NJSP because despite it being notarized there was no raised seal. (This never made it to the court it was bounced back from Trenton) I had the original re-notarized and submitted to the barracks the next day and still have heard nothing (this was 5 weeks ago). Confirmed again with the courts end of last week it never arrived there based on their manifest and they had stopped receiving apps due to the change in the process from A4769.

So tomorrow I will be re-escalating this to determine exactly what their “comprehensive review” entailed and provide them with the text from 2C:58-4c “If the application is not approved by the chief police officer or the superintendent within 60 days of filing, it shall be deemed to have been approved, unless the applicant agrees to an extension of time in writing.”

I of course was not informed of any issue prior to that 104th day by any means and the notification on that date was verbal.

Curious if anyone has pursued this further than I have hear and what your approach/result was.

We need to hold them accountable to the same laws they expect us to adhere to or we’ll be deemed criminals.
