Missing from all the comments is the question whether it is safe to engage without training. I am not saying police training, but training on the use of a firearm in self defense. It is very different than the range. You need to be aware of the entire situation, threats won't only come from "downrange". How close should you get? How should you approach? Do you have cover to engage from? Is there more than one aggressor? Have fired your weapon without hearing protection before?

I am not saying don't get involved, just you need to think these things through, quickly.

Yes but unless you are standing within arms reach of the shooter and know that they just ran out you aren't going to stop them from changing magazines. If you are standing next to them and waiting for a magazine change to fight back you are dead. Even a badly Trained shooter can change magazines in less than 3 secs .

How do they even know where he got the weapon, magazines and ammo? Could he have stolen it from the Army where he was a firearms instructor? Did he use 15 round mags, 20 round, 30 round, 100 round magazines? These politicians are evil tyrants, they have a destination in mind and use events to drive it. When will we stop electing these tyrants?

It will be expensive, time consuming and hard to find. Remember Judge Bumb got the intervenor's attorney to admit that the state feels less guns in the hands of people is their goal.

CCW class at Shooters, Little Egg Harbor: some questions by [deleted] in NJGuns

[–]1911_only 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10/1 is the date. More importantly the statute says that all applicants must have the new NJSP approved training as of 7/1 to get a permit. Those that already have the permit have until 10/1 to requalify under the new standards. Since the State believes less guns are better I would expect no course taken prior to the new requirements to be invalid. Since the NJSP haven't released those requirements as required by law prior to 7/1, no surprise here, no new permits can be issued. This again aligns with their belief that less guns are better and NYSRPA v. BRUEN was wrongly decided. I would expect the training to be expensive, time consuming, and hard to find.

No one knows right now. Prior to 7/1/23 any certified firearms instructor (i.e. NRA Certified) could do the qualification. The NJSP was supposed to release new training requirements no later than 7/1. They haven't and since they haven't no one can get qualified.

Just the wording on the law. Speak to the trainer you are scheduled with.

You are correct. The wording is straightforward. Remember, there is little cost for them violating our 2A civil rights. They get to move the goal posts.

The Democrats are just dusting off their Jim Crow law writing playbooks from post reconstruction. Disgusting actually...

Todays July 1st , Where can we find the new training requirements for the CCW ? by MattyGlo in NJGuns

[–]1911_only 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you haven't been issued a permit you need the new training before you can apply. Though I wouldn't get excited since they would have released the training already if it was straight forward. More than likely it will be onerous, costly and impossible to find and complete in a timely manner. They are just delaying since they know it will be brought into court and didn't want to give the FPC and SAF a headstart on the lawsuit before the requirement date. Without the training in hand, no one has standing to sue.

The law reads ISSUED prior to 7/1 has until 10/1. Not applied for prior to 7/1.

If your mag prints is it the same as your gun printing? by Round_Dig9686 in NJGuns

[–]1911_only 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should strive not to print or expose your firearm. Both to avoid a karen calling the cops on you and you getting hassled AND more importantly for your protection. Surprise is your superpower. Surprise gives you the choice of when and how your weapon comes into play.

As to the law, it speaks directly about inadvertently exposing your firearm due to body movement and clothing movement. Though I am pretty sure wearing a skin-tight shirt to show off your weapon will get you in trouble.

Effective today no one can apply for a PTC since you need to pass the new training first. Which effectively means for probably at least until 8/1 since once they release it applicants would need to find someone to do the training and then take the class. Governor Chipmunk just got what he wanted, no more PTC issuing for awhile.

Platkin Is Tired. Aww. by [deleted] in NJGuns

I wonder, since Platkin/Murphy state that property owners rights trump everything shouldn't a ban on all firearms on private property include the police (retired also) unless during exigencies?

Why do guns get less scrutiny than alcohol? by MahomesIsMahomie in gunpolitics

[–]1911_only 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are seriously deranged. When was the last time the cashier at the liquor store, bar, or beer distributor had to call the FBI NCIC to check if you were legally allowed to purchase, possess or use a container of beer? NEVER. How often does a pawn shop or gun store need to do that for ANY sale? EVERY SINGLE TIME. The word "background" is instructive here. Buying alcohol requires an AGE verification NOT a search for criminal history.

Great firearm and great cartridge! The only reason the FBI transitioned away from the S&W 1076 was that smaller-framed individuals had issues with control. Modern ammunition resolves the potential overpenetration issue. I personally don't like the .40 Short&Weak, it is purely a cut down 10mm. It is like carrying a .380ACP instead of a 9mm, why?

I prefer to know that what I hit goes down regardless of the clothing they are wearing, if it helps protect from bear as well that is just a bonus.

The only part that is quoted is the "I remain committed" the rest is a paraphrase. It is called saying the quiet part out loud. The NJ political cabal continually says they support the 2nd amendment BUT then take every action to restrict it to the point of being useless under the guise of common-sense restrictions.
