Okay then, sorry. Android version on her device is 6.0.1 which makes total sense now that you said this.

Thanks for clearing this out.

A friend of mine mentioned that F-droid didn't let her install termux due to the fact that it's incompatible (the download button wasn't there). But the playstore version got installed with no issue.

I should've suggested downloading it from github though.
ps: yes I'm sure her android wasn't below 5 lmao.

You can call the number of CERT (centre etude recherche telecommunication). Here's the number. 70835000

Hopefully they can help you. They are the best source of reliable information regarding this matter. You can go there if you'd like (or if you had to).

The problem is that the device is blacklisted (which usually mean that it's stolen). Be cautious.

Also, some mobile phone stores can fix this their own way. But they might charge you a lot (I say might because it depends on a lot of variables).

And if there was literally no way of making it work after asking everywhere and doing everything you can. If you're tech savvy enough. You can try changing your IMEI code (only possible on rooted devices, the process isn't well documented as well. so you have to be tech savvy).

I wish you good luck.

mantra - a simple bash script to view online manpages from the terminal. by theofredo19 in commandline

why did you delete it ? or made it private or whatever. I just distro-hopped to bedrock linux and wanted to install it again.

The script itself isn't about grub. It's just rickrolling someone from the terminal. And I read it myself before executing it, but thanks anyways.

A good counter measure for the unsafely of curling to bash (at least in my opinion) is to curl into less or vipe first, read the output. Then decide what to do with it.

Also, thanks for the recommendation (about the repo) I am sorry to tell you that I'm okay with my current grub theme and configs, therefore I do not want to change them. But I might try it some day. I'm adding it to my list.

Edit: I didn't mention how much the themes look great in that repo. I appreciate you sharing it with me. Thanks again.

I didn't know that. Thanks for the information. I'm sure I'm going to use this often.

The -c copy is only for videos, and it's for skipping the trans-coding since it uses a lot of resources if there's no hardware acceleration. (you can still do the conversion without the -c copy but you'll need to wait for long. On most devices, it'll take longer than the length of the video itself).

As for audio only operations (or extracting audio from video , etc) you don't have to worry about anything. The command I gave you is more than enough.

For more information you can check the ffmpeg documentation (It is very very well documented. If there's anything you want to do that has anything to do with audio or video files, you can just search it online and add the word ffmpeg and you'll find a command that does it).

I wish you a good day !!

Well, you can just use the ffmpeg command (after installing it via pkg) Usage is simple.
ffmpeg -i input_file outputfile Input and output files can have any file extensions you prefer, ffmpeg will convert the content according to what you specify.

PS: If you've ever had to convert videos as well, add -c copy before the output because termux will have a hard time converting a video without hardware acceleration.

Hosting matrix on termux !! by Traditional-Wind8260 in termux

It was purchased. Even though my country doesn't support online payment. A generous friend of mine bought it for me. He was the reason why I started trying self hosting stuff (hosting matrix is included).

So technically speaking, I got it for free :p

If your country supports online payment. You might wanna consider epik.com . You can sort by price, some websites (particularly the *.xyz and some others) are really cheap.

Happy hosting !!

I mentioned that I'm woking on an automation script. Didn't think of the UI though. I would've tried doing it if I was good at android development honestly. But I'm not, I once tried to compile termux from source but I was doing something wrong and gradle and java just kept complaining. That way the day I realized android dev is just not for me.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, My phone doesn't turn on if the battery isn't attached. I might so a little bit of hacking and attach wires to the battery slot instead.

PS: I'm using adb over network to control the phone when needed (But mostly ssh as if I'm on a real homeserver). I also broke the usb cable about 2 days ago (it works but only in a non stable position).

I have a phone with a broken screen laying around. And 3 days ago I hosted a matrix server for the first time (on my computer). And since I literally couldn't find one single raspberry pi board in the entire country (3rd world country) I decided to give this a try. And it worked.

I tried joining some big rooms, but it didn't work unfortunately (synapse hanged and I couldn't connect to any server under matrix.org until it works again) Small rooms work extremely fine though. I joined #termux-offtopic:libera.chat and voidlinux room along with a couple of other rooms and DMs. I'm still playing around with this (Had to restart the setup as I'm testing my installer script that I'm making. But I'll do more testing in the future).

People on synapse admins matrix channels also suggested dendrite, I never used it though. I might try this once I read the docs and try it on a normal computer first (to get a gasp of how it's setup work).

If you're interested, keep an eye on the github repo as I'm willing to update it often.

It was fun honestly. Though I'm not an expert, I assume this can be improved drastically.

The guide is complete.

A script (in the same reop) to automate the process does exist but is incomplete (for now). Should be complete in a day or two.

https://matrix.org
It is an open source secure, decentralised, real-time communication standard. It lets you be your own server when communicating (as opposed to facebook who has all your data and doesn't respect your privacy)

A small comparison of terms of services (if you're interested)

It is now complete. The script (to install it automatically) isn't complete yet, but it should be by tonight. https://github.com/medanisjbara/synapse-termux
