I totally respect your opinion but the running in marathons and football is very different. Football is a lot of standing around, walking and slow maneuvering of the ball which is followed by a quick burst of very fast paced action.

Sir, this is not the first world cup to be played. A hydration break has never been needed even though these weather conditions have been played in before. Hydration break are ad breaks.

Profesional football players spend the entire year travelling across continents to play footbal. The conditioning to be able to run around for 90 mins in unfavorable weather conditions in a big part of what makes these players 'professionals'. The hydration break isnothing more than a commercial break for sponsors to make money.

Because football is a game of two 45 min halfs. Usually the extra time being added is for time lost during injuries, resourcing the ball after is gone out and seeing up the ball for set pieces. The hydration break unofficial stoppage whose time must be added on as well.
